Not exactly, if you go back and check out the BCS top 4 during its use, the SEC had like 6 seasons where it had 2 teams in the end of season top 4.
I'm good with the new format, but the moment they leave out a more deserving team because of conference affiliation, then we need to go back to the BCS, at least to determine a final four.

I'm just saying that it's laughable that voters weight a championship from a few seasons ago more heavily than the last 3 games. I never said you played bad in the Iron Bowl. I simply stated that you're 1-2 in your last 3 with the lone win looking so far removed from the previous championship caliber teams that I wasn't positive that you even looked like a top 10 team.
To an extent, I don't mind the voters weighing the past when there's continuity. Let's say you take LSU, Bama, and UGA. Their head coaches have all experienced great success and haven't changed. They all have monster recruiting year in and year out. They all have strong, lucrative programs with fervent fanbases and great facilities. At some point, it's not irrational to look at the past X years in toto as one of the factors in predicting future success. Obviously, it can only be one factor, and it's by no means a perfect predictor (see: Auburn the year after their BCS title.) But it's not as silly as it seems at first blush. We expect programs like LSU under Miles, Bama under Saban, and UGA under the Loss-of-Control-Man to be good, and sometimes great, most every year, and our expectations are rarely shattered.

There are going to be done great sec teams left out because of this 4 team format.
While a true statement, there would be some great SEC teams left out in the old two team format.

Did you watch Bama's performance against Oklahoma? At all?

Yeah I get that, but what I am saying is voters are factoring in the fact that Alabama has consistently been one of the top programs and national title or not, it won't change this year.
True. And I think there are three teams that deserve the benefit of the doubt. Alabama, LSU and Auburn. They've been the class of the SEC in the past few years. I would also say that A&M is quickly laying groundwork for respect.
Right now everybody has to take a wait and see on georgia because, while being a solid program we have not put together a really special year in quite awhile. Could have happened in 2012, but we fell short.

It's amazing how much you are hanging on Bama's "last three games", considering two of those were LAST SEASON.
Alabama did not look like a playoff team this weekend. Anyone who wants to judge the team on that performance can make a great case for Bama having a down year. But to pull in arbitrarily the last two games from last season, is just inane. It makes as much sense to say that Bama will beat LSU this year because we beat them last year.
The bottom line is that we all know Alabama is loaded with inexperienced talent. If that talent gels in the next few weeks, we will have a shot at a big run. If it does not, Florida may start us on a slide that will be painful by the team the season ends.
Either way, auburn and Oklahoma have nothing to do with it, at least until most of our season has already played out. Last year's losses at the end mean nothing more than the victories at the beginning. Will we beat A&M? I would look closer at the WVU game than last year's Bama/A&M game before I put any money down.

If the season ended today, I'd be REALLY confused.

They're #5 in the country. What love is Auburn NOT receiving?

I was just surprised that Bama was rated higher than AU in a single poll, to be honest. I realize Bama will probably be fine, but Auburn has looked better than them in all of the past 3 games (even beating them H2H).

Alabama and Auburn have played already this year?

this year?
Well, no. But Bama fans in this thread have talked about the last 6 years as much as I've talked about the last 3 games. If you want to go strictly by this year, then I thought AU looked better than Bama on Saturday.

I don't disagree with you on that point. It would be interesting to watch a WVU vs Arky game.

If SOS matters to the selection committee, based on the first game alone, there are 3 SEC teams that would get in before Bama: UGA, aTm, LSU...
WVU may prove to be better than anticipated, and/or maybe Clemson, USCe, and Wisconsin may prove to be worse...but from what we know right now, their wins were much more impressive than our's...

Not at all. I was responding to BamaDoc talking bad about Georgia losing to Nebraska, that's all.
I have repeatedly said in this thread that Bama, Auburn and LSU deserve the benefit of the doubt becuase of thier recent history.
If I recall correctly, Alabama did not look spectaclular in last seasons season opener. many predicted a hard fall and talked pretty badly about their OL.....last season, while not what Bama fans wanted/expected was still a pretty good year for you.
I think you are getting me confused with another poster.
