As a coach, it's not your job to stop your offense. Your offense is designed to score. Let the other team worry about stopping you. And if they cannot, well tough shite, this is football, not patty cake

Stop it. To stop trying is more insulting than scoring again, it says to the other team they are so pathetic that they need your sympathy.

I think playing your game is always acceptable, maybe not your first team going full bore, but acceptable. Especially when you get your backups in and they need reps.

I have no problem with it. If you want to preach that your players should play hard for 60 minutes, then why should you take your foot off the gas?

You only have so many snaps to improve your team, and no better way to simulate game like atmosphere than a game. Also, a game is rarely not in question.

I'd say,with the starters,yes. If however your
playing your 2nd 3rd stringers to get them the reps they need then no. How else do you get them ready to play

Bleah. Did A&M score? (Not that there's suddenly something wrong with scoring.) No. Was it apparent that A&M was trying to score, taking the last 10+ minutes off the clock and running the play clock all the way down between plays? Again, no. No matter what one's opinion on "running up the score", I can't see how anybody would find fault with Sumlin on that last drive. He should have punted on first down, or what?
You may have noticed our star wide receiver Boone Neiderhofer catching several passes on that drive. Store that name in your brain, as he's a no-doubt Heisman contender! For those that think Kyle Allen should have played that last series... then what? Would Kyle be expected to run as much time off the clock as possible? That makes no sense at all. And if he had scored? Then the bitching crowd would bitch that A&M simply had to let Kyle Allen throw a TD in garbage time.

Thanks for making my point, or something. His name isn't there and won't ever be there. He's a walk-on. Caught 2 passes (that I remember - it may have been 3) in the last time-killing drive that some are for some reason up in arms about.

I think that is changing. With as fickle as the polls are going to be on this new playoff, and with pressure to have all the major conferences represented, it behooves teams to score at will.
I personally think that is going to lead people to do like Spurrier used to do at Florida. Score until the clock ticks 60 minutes. This business of taking a knee at the end is sportsmanlike, but may not get you into the play offs.
heres an example. Georgia and Auburn both won their games 45-21. Both were tied at the half. 21-21. AU was in an SEC game against a weaker opponent. Georgia was playing a ranked team from a weaker conference.
A case could be made that if Auburn had scored another 2 touchdowns, that Auburn would be ranked ahead of Bama in this weeks poll. Its that fickle at the moment. AU had 4th team QB and back ups in at the end. It could have scored easily on the last drive, which ended with a 1st down at the 11 yard line. Had there not been a rain delay, the score could have been higher.
