Spurrier deserves it, of all people.

I love tRant. Loather, the poor bastard, admitted he was wrong like 3 pages ago, but since no one reads the whole thread, they keep piling on!

He should edit his op then.

He was a ruthless bastard in the 90s, so my sympathy for him is limited.

He most certainly was.
Oh how I miss those days.

You'd know better than I... when those Spurrier teams were running up the score, were they doing it with their first string the whole game? Someone earlier mentioned that Carolina scored 70 on Coastal last year, but if you look at the numbers fully half those points came from backups (at least 2 from backup RBs and 3 from backup QBs) and he even used four QBs behind Shaw.

I don't really think it's that bad to keep playing your style of offense if you're doing it to get in game experience for backups... but I can't remember about Spurrier's style back then in detail as I was only watching from the outside.

Running up the score has always been part of the game. You say the BCS reduced it, but I disagree.

Bill Snyder made his bacon by scheduling cupcakes and running up obscene scores. Oregon does it, Stoops does as well. Bielema did it when he was at Wiscy. He still does it, but for the other team.

Mizzou's Pinkel refuses to do it. In 2008 he could have easily hung 70+ on Nebraska in Lincoln but pulled his starters and transitioned to short run plays halfway through the 3rd quarter (we won 52-17).

I get that it's the defense's job to prevent scores, but dancing on the grave of an overmatched opponent is bad form. A quality team will get noticed for reasons other than the margin of victory (unless it's something along the lines of last year's FSU-Clemson game - that score sent a real message about both teams).

No. Hitler won big, a lot.

Spurrier is more like Mussolini.

My favorite Bama game vs. The ole douche was when we beat that cock sucker 34-7 in the SEC championship that year in 1999

Alabama had played Florida earlier in the year and beat them in the swamp 40-39 I think was the score. Freddie Milons gave him nightmares. He has a bad track record of slightly losing to his SECCG opponent in the regular season, then getting curbstomped in the actual game
