Ain't nothin. My father always said "If you're going to do something, do it right".

I'm curious of one thing, though, from UGA fans. We have this discussion from time to time on the Tech forums about the rivalry which many of us are clearly hyper-focused on, which has two or three main camps. One of the camps says it should be discontinued, it's not really a rivalry with the current disparity in all things football. One of the camps says it's central to the identity of at least Tech, if not UGA, and it would be a tragedy to end it. The third camp (which may or may not be a major one) wants to move it to the beginning of the year instead of the end (I think they may have suffered something of a defeat this week).

I'm personally in the camp that says the game should continue to be played no matter what, because I'm the kind of guy who doesn't mind adversity. It just makes the wins that much more enjoyable. I also know that the winds of college football don't blow in the same direction forever. Some time in the distant future, I may see a Tech program rise up and truly compete.

I imagine that UGA fans will be divided along similar lines, but I'm curious enough to ask the question anyway. How do y'all on the dawgrant feel about the rivalry, and do you think our teams should continue it?

It's tradition for the game to be played every year as the last regular season game for both teams. It should stay that way.

The idea of discontinuing the rivalry is moronic and soft.

I'll stand up and be counted as moronic and soft. I don't like wasting a week preparing for the triple option right before the SECCG. And I don't like using one of our precious OOC matchups every season on a team that we get no credit for beating. I'd rather play a mid tier Big 10 or PAC 12 school. Maybe GT every 3 or 4 years.

A legit issue, but not really a big deal imo. Tech's going to fire Paul Johnson at some point relatively soon anyway, and their next coach won't run that.

They are our biggest rival. Who cares what kind of credit we get? It's mostly just dumbass fans of other SEC schools who say it doesn't matter. The national media still sees Tech for what they are, a consistent mid-tier ACC team.

What's the point of that?

Continue it just as it is. The whole "change it" talk usually takes place from the losing fan base when the rivalry gets lopsided. Kind of like the wailing from DawgNation about changing the Georgia-Florida rivalry when they were beating us (and badly) every year. We've now ripped off 3 straight wins and - funny thing - you don't hear too many Dawg fans wanting to change it anymore.

So, yeah, it sucks for the losing fan base when things get lopsided but I don't think it should be changed. Winning streaks come and winning streaks go, but this rivalry should never change, imvho.

I could be wrong, but as long as Paul Johnson gets Tech bowl eligible, he's not going anywhere. Running a quirky offense appeals to Tech's ideals of intellectual superiority. They also like the fact that Georgia has to devote resources every year to defending their offense. Look at their OOC scheduling lately. Other than UGA, top football programs are not jumping at the chance to schedule Tech.

I also think there's an advantage to playing out of your region, both from a recruiting and a media coverage/ranking standpoint.
