I think the threat of a deep ball is one of the keys to success against UF. I know they will be playing close to the Los to shut down the short routes.

The question on Coker is a bit unfair, as we haven't seen him. You could say his play in garbage time at FSU left a lot to be desired, but I could then argue that Sims play on two A-Days was horrendous. If Sims can improve to show us what he did Saturday, why can't Coker?

What defense is going to give a shite when they know he can't complete it. Just because he has the arm strength to throw it 50 yards doesn't mean shite when it is overthrown 5 yards.

Yea, but you don't have to win a shootout with them.

So you think our 260-280 lb guys can do the same as their 230 lb guys?

Some dude posted this on BOL last night (take it with a big grain of salt):

quote:

. Also, talked to my guy today and now understand why Coker didn't play. It's not because of poor practice. Smart move by Saban. Smarter move was having Lane on the sidelines.

When asked to elaborate he said he didn't want to violate his "friend's" trust.

Any ideas?

How do you know it would be overthrown? You don't. I don't know if it would connect either. That is my point. Let's see what we have in both quarterbacks before we anoint one as better than the other.

That's why I liked the 2011 battle so much. We could measure with our own two eyes to determine that the hype behind Phil Simms was unwarranted. Why can't we do the same with Coker?

Close game.
Away from BDS.
Sims had solid rhythm.
Leg was wrapped for whatever reason.

ETA: I'm gonna message someone elsewhere and see if he knows anything.

Dear BamaStepL,

When you realize I just revoked your posting privileges for the Bama Board, your knee-jerk reaction will be that it's because people got riled up at your thread. Don't deceive yourself.

You are getting a break because of this:
quote:

NONE of your complaints are warranted... just some dumb titty babies who can't have your way... I'm feasting on your tears.

If you'd like to be reinstated at some point, just submit the request to be re-added. Don't expect it to happen within the next few weeks, however.

I'd also like to add, anyone here who wishes to accuse our posters, or the Bama fanbase at large, of racism because they criticize Blake Sims better have some very compelling evidence or you'll be ushered out for a lot longer than two weeks.

I don't see what that has to do with anything. We had 70% of the crowd.

You have no reason to believe he wouldn't complete it. They only thing we know about him throwing deep balls while at Bama is that he apparently looks good doing it in practice. But practice doesn't mean you can do it in a game. We'll find out soon.

What will be more important against Texas A&M, controlling the ball and playing defense or outscoring them?

Both. Control the ball AND score. Doesn't matter if we control the ball and keep our D fresh, they will still score.

We also missed easy tackles that would have stopped drives. We also dropped passes that killed our drives.

Yeah we will have to outscore their offense.

I can only think of one or two. The long one to Jones, and a shorter one to Cooper that Sims threw at his ankles.

Same reason in 2011 AJ and Sims played week 1 in BDS, only AJ i week 2 @PSU, and both played in week 3 at home.

It's harder to get back into rhythm away from home.

Well why doesn't LSU ever have to worry about a shootout?
