FTR - unless I'm overlooking some games Steve has pretty much owned Nick head-to-head:
'00 LSU vs UF (9 - 41)
'01 LSU vs UF (15 - 44)
'09 UA vs USCe (20 - 6)
'10 UA vs USCe (21 - 35)
That's 3-1 in favor of Spurrier and 126-65 in pts.

Saban>>>Spurrier
Not even close, yes Spurrier is a really good coach, but hes not the best! Saban is!

OBC has had 3 11 win seasons in a ROW.
Spurrier is one of the all-time great SEC coaches, having coached extremely well at both UF and SC...but with 3 straight 11 win seasons at SC, to use his own words against him (as he once directed at Saban), "I don't know if he has maxed out potentially as well as he could..."
In that 3-year stretch, the best in SC football history, they never won their division, even with the overall #1 HS recruit / #1 NFL draft pick, as well as having the "best QB in school history" (Spurrier's words), all 3 of those years. And at least in 2 of those years, the division championship was easily in reach, except for puzzling losses to Auburn (2011) and Tennessee (last year). Perhaps if Spurrier didn't focus so much on his golf game and talking to the media, he might not have these letdowns that have probably cost him a potential championship or two...

The head-to-head meetings suggest Spurrier is the better coach. Granted there were some talent disparities while at UF but 3 of the 4 were blowouts.
Given comparble talent, Spurrier would prove better.

So, following your logic, head-to-head meetings suggest Chizik is a better coach than Spurrier. Swept him in three head-to-head games, one in a blowout, and one in a down year...

Spurrier is freakin' awesome!! He's great for college football and even BETTER for the SEC... He's a fantastic coach and he can rustle jimmies like no other!! I think he would have done some great things..
I'm happy with CNS but would love to have gotten Spurrier for his comdedic value alone... ANd call me crazy but I think he would have won @ LEAST 1 National Championship if he were here...

The Saban-Spurrier head-to-head data quality >> Chizik-to-Spurrier data quality. One spans 11 seasons while the other only two (I think - didn't they play 2X in Cam's year?).
If Chizik and Spurrier match wits again in say 5-6 years, then we can compare the two.

I was being facetious...and "data quality" is based on having enough quantifiable data not on the span of years...not much difference between 4 games head-to-head and 3 games...and not enough head-to-head data to make a determination in either case...

Saban's in his head almost as much as he's in Dabo's.
