Is Marshall (AU QB) for sure going to sit out this game?

Only part. Really no one knows if he is starting, will miss a drive, or will miss a half.

Depth Chart lists him at #1 QB

Malzahn says he "has a plan" for how long Nick Marshall will sit Saturday. Does not want to discuss that plan.

Everybody knows Malzhan's 'plan'. That's to let him sit until he sees that he needs him.

I say one series minimum, first half maximum.

Watch for them to run the ball more often than not off their RT side. LT has a Soph and a FR as 1/2 starting so we should be able to disrupt that side of the ball.

eta: WDE- How good is Coleman/Smith at LT?

He is definitely not starting and he will definitely play according to Malzahn. Gus says they have a plan and both QBs know the plan, but he isn't giving away more than that.

While Coleman is a sophmore, he has been around several years and isn't the typical sophmore. He will likely be our best run blocker. Pass protection is said to be where he had some missteps occasionally.

Eta: Smith is a true freshman who is one of the strongest guys on the team and said to be one of the hardest workers. He hasn't had the reps the others have in the offense though. He will only see spot duty unless there is an injury.

I was putting it in the eyes of the coaches. Gus could start him just to pull a "haha" dummies and scratch part of our game plan right off the bat.

I figure he will at least miss a quarter.

Gus stated last week and again at his presser today that nm would not start, but he dodged all the questions trying to get more info than that.

Guessing a RS Soph then? SECR news page doesn't show RS or not.

While I'm worried about the pass everyone knows Gus runs the read option as his bread and butter to set everything else up. HUNH and run it down your throat.

signed with AU as 4/5 star recruit in 2010 and then was shortly after diagnosed with cancer. He waited until Jan 2011 to enroll and didn't do anything football related until 2012. He was granted a 6th year of eligibility. So he is a redshirt sophmore for football, but is 22 years old and just graduated.

I keep up with SEC football enough to have a decent read on most teams, but obviously am not as familiar with the teams as their own fans. Below is my general read on Arky and this weekend's game. Tell me where I am wrong and fill in the gaps where I am lacking:

Offense: Good, not great, o line. Very good group of RBs that compliments each other well. Very talented Tight end. Mediocre group of receivers. QB that was talented out of HS. Injuries hampered him significantly last year, so no one is sure what we are going to get from him.

Defense: A couple of very good d linemen. Mediocre at LB and in the secondary.

Special Teams: No idea.

Saturday's game: Arky can win if they can stop AU a couple of times early with JJ at QB, can score first, can run the ball almost at will (with a couple of play action big plays) and can win the turnover battle by two or more. I don't think all of that happens, but see it as a possibility.

All in all, I think that's a pretty fair assessment, though I think our O-line is much better that it's getting credit for being.

If we can win the toss, take the ball down the field and score, and then manage a defensive stop with Marshall out of the game, I think this one could go in our favor. I'm just interested in whether Auburn's offense will be out of whack with having to get their backup more snaps and prep both QBs for playing time.

I agree that Arky needs some success early in the game to gain some confidence and rattle AU of they want to pull the upset.

In all reality the main question has to be wether or not Ark can convert 3rd and 5+'s. If we can we will be in a position to win. Both teams will move the ball but if we cant pass in medium/long down positions we are in for another shite season.

On a side note- It will be so refreshing to see our cbs play a little press coverage instead of 10 yards deep on 3rd and 5.

Can BA complete a pass and can the WR's catch a pass?

Can we limit turnovers and dumbass mistakes?

Will Bert let Chaney run with the Offense or will continue to be sans Nutt/Gus circa 2006?

Can our secondary keep Coates in check?

I hope it rains cats and fricking dogs on the plains.

I'm bringing rain gear and hoping we shock the CF world..

Go Hogs!

I'm worried about the beginning of the game. Dont get shellshocked early because I know the stadium will be rocking from the get go. We need a few good drives in the first quarter to stop any snowball early.
Ive been to Jordan Hare 4 times and I am worried about the initial "frenzy". Eagle flight, the fricking pompoms, Eye of the tiger, all of that.

I'll talk to God about getting a thunderstorm or two to move through right about the time kick off happens to throw everything out of kilter.
