It really shouldn't be that controversial of a stance that the officials are taking. Everyone should want them to be get the ball spotted properly, get the chains set, get in position, etc.

Its controversial when they start taking sides with the defense. A defensive player should not get any more preference than the offense or the other way around. The offensive players are doing just as much if not more than anyone on the field and they can get back and do their job. The refs are not all running around during the play and have time to get set before next play. They do less than anyone on the field.

Solution: find refs that aren't lazy.

Actually, the refs are the ones that fricked all this up. They are not supposed to go faster than normal just because the offense wants them to. They need to take their time, get into position then signal for the umpire to allow the play to start. The damn officials are the ones that would speed up because of the offense, they never should have done it in the first place. They will correct THEIR error this year

Refs are out there EVERY play of the game dumbass and they do a lot of running themselves. Refs were never supposed to speed up the game in the first place and THEY started it by doing it. Now they will correct their error. Not a tough concept

All they are doing is running around and looking and most don't even run unless the play stretches the field. Standing and running one time every few plays is not that demanding. They are also supposed to have the ball set when the offense is ready. The 40 second clock is using up the offenses time. By your rules they should be able to drag around until the 40 seconds is up and flag the offense for not running a play. It was put in place to speed up the games and if they wait 15 seconds its defeating them removing the 25 second clock.

we probably have more conference championships than the barn. You are showing your age. College football didn't start in 1992 and the SEC was Bama and the 7 little dwarfs when the SWC was rolling with the pony express texas Ark. A&m and Houston was even top 25 with back to back Heisman qb's. tuffin' up buttercup and quit whacking off in mama's bathroom

Nobody cares what you did in the SWC 50 years ago. In the SEC you are inferior and a laughing stock. Now run along to WalMart and pick up another six pack of potted meat.

It is quite amusing. Bama and Arky fans are nervous about the up tempo offense Pearl is bringing to Auburn.

Its hilarious that you and IronTig think that the refs wi be replaced or its simple to just go hire new qualified officials. Where is Arrakus when you need him.

If the refs can't keep up then find some who can. If the offensive players can compete for a play and then get lined up and go again then everyone else on the field should have to keep up or not get on the field. That goes for refs and defenders.

Damn straight.

And while we're at it, do the same for basketball. Dead ball...offense go run and throw the ball in without having to wait for the ref to put it in play. Hell, let's do it for baseball too. Let the pitcher be able to sprint to the mound as soon as the last inning was over and start throwing. If the CF is due up, he better sprint his arse in from the OF and get his bat and get into the box.

I'd like to think that if Sumlin proposed a stupid arse rule that was a detriment to the game, I'd have the personal dignity not to defend it just because he was my team's coach.

That's more like what UGA, bama, and Arky fans are doing because they won't pass a rule against Auburn. I'm not worried about a rule passing. More people are against it than for it and no one for it can come come up a legit reason to pass it.

Well while you're at it let's make refs stop play in basketball until the defense can get down the court and set before each shot. While we're at it the defense has to be set too in football. Can't have them having any advantages either.

Not the same analogy. No one is advocating that the refs should stop play while a running back is running down the field so the defense can catch up. We're talking about dead balls after the whistle. You're smart enough to figure that out...I think.
