I will get grief for saying this but Ramsey imo is the best player to come out of TN in quite some time and a future all pro although not Butch's fault. I think TN will make its way back, but Pruitt, Gardner and Craig are by far the best recruiters in the SEC. Pruitt will be the biggest thorn in Gus and Sabans side and that's what Rich hired him to do.

Not if he is killing teammates in practice

Congrats, dawgs. I would be butt hurt if he was anything except a WR.

Same here. Well, I'm not exactly butt hurt but I did want Jefferson badly just for the fact that I think he's a very good receiver and he's from Nashville.

I agree with those 3 but I would think Tommy Thigpen at least deserves to be in the conversation. He was the national recruiter of the year last year after he recruited like 22 of our 32 signees from the '14 class. It's been basically a two man operation with Butch and Thig since they showed up in Knoxville. We have a pretty average recruiting staff after that imo.

Good lord Georgia, racking them up this year. Hopefully Richt and crew aren't taking chances on any more "questionable maturity" guys and can keep these guys in class.

I'd hate to see what Georgia can do when they keep good talented players on the up and up.

Not scared. Even Ole Miss outbids UGA. UGA is 3rd tier in the SEC when it comes to closing the deal.

I agree Thig is a great recruiter but he isn't on those 3 or Odell Haggins level and that is not a diss he is still a top 10 recruiter nationally. He will be a huge reason ut is building into something special.
Here is how I evaluate recruiters who is the last opposing coach in the world you want recruiting the best kid on your board ? I remember the NSD were Craig and Haggins owned Auburn and flat out owned Trooper Taylor. I think Strip is a good coach and good recruiter but no vol fan wants him and thig to be up against Gardner and thats a fact.
Thats not a diss on vols and alot of credit is due that they finally have a recruiter who can compete with those 3

After landing Jefferson, UGA just improved to 2-4 in head-to-head battles for WRs vs VOLS

Yeah, true. Craig is a great recruiter and Gardner has been a beast for years.

That was Fulmer's #1 dude back in the mid 90's and our recruiting definitely took a hit when he left for UGA.

Garner and he has dropped off considerably from what he once was. Got so bad at UGA that we almost lost Davin Bellamy because Garner scheduled him to visit on a day when it turned out none of the coaches were even in town. Consistently avoided or flat out refused to recruit at certain schools in ATL either because he had some unrelated beef with a coach there or he just didn't want to go. Pruitt has obviously been a great influence on UGA's current recruiting, but I'd attribute just as much of this success to Bryan McLendon (who is responsible for recruiting guys like Michel, Gurley, Marshall, etc.) becoming the new Recruiting Coordinator. Young blood, fresh approach.

Um you might want to check those recruiter of the year rankings again. Thigpen wasn't even close. LINK
Fun fact: UGA has the last 4 recruiters of the year on staff so it's not really a surprise to see this class this year .

Yeah Bryan McClendon and Mike Bobo should be in this conversation, as should Billy Napier, Kirby Smart, Lance Thompson, and Frank Wilson.

ETA: and Travaris Robinson. Lot of ace recruiters in the SEC

No he's not. They've lived here like 2 years. It's a good pickup for them, but it's not like they came in and stole a born and breed Tennessee kid

He was on rivals LINK

And yes I know 247 is the superior service but it's still a heck of an accomplishment by Thig.

RIVALS.COM RECRUITER OF THE YEAR
Tommy Thigpen, Tennessee
Buzz: Thigpen earned the prestigious title of Rivals.com National Recruiter of the Year by playing a major role in 17 of Tennessee's 31 signees. He's become the most important member of Butch Jones' staff when it comes to recruiting, and was integral in helping Tennessee come from out of the picture to the eventual home for five-star wide receiver Josh Malone. Thigpen's ability to connect not only with recruits, but with their parents, is one of the things that makes him one of the best closers in the business. Even when it looked like the Vols class was full in January, it was Thigpen who helped steal defensive tackles Jashon Robertson and Michael Sawyers away from in-state rival Vanderbilt. Things are changing in Knoxville and Thigpen has been a huge part of the recruiting turnaround.

Yeah, it's just that fact, and the position he plays is the reason I'm not upset.

You know damn well that most of Volnation would be bragging about shutting down the borders if he committed to UT. You can't have it both ways.

Jefferson hasn't been thrilled with Justin Hunters attitude and approach this camp(calling him JAG -- Just Another Guy)... wonder if that played into it (probably not but interesting none the less).
