Most of ya'll are probably too young to actually remember Herschell Walker playing but the goal line stalker returned kickoffs and punts from time to time while at UGA.

And I've seen him fumble a kickoff. Trying to remember what game it was.

You guys are so retard at times.

Yall don't want Gurley to return kick offs, this is a guy who is 6-1, 230 lbs, b/c he will get injured (no proof of this).

****BUT**** yall want I Mckenzie to return kickoffs? He is like 5'7 170lbs of stick and bones, but no NOT Gurley b/c he will get hurt. Well if Gurley is going to get hurt returning kickoffs, then I McKenzie sure will with that same logic.

The only difference is that losing IM wouldn't harm our offensive production like losing TG

There's no reason to take that risk. Put McKenzie and Michel back there. They need touches anyway.

TBH, this sounds like it could be something to try to put in the Clemson staff's head. It gives them something else they have to prepare for.

According to Bobo, all five will play on ST...

quote:

“All five are on special teams, and all five will play,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said after Friday’s practice. “Offensive snaps, that’s still to be determined.”

Here is the Emerson article:

Yeah, that's one of several times where I saw it mentioned. Again, coaches did it last year. Don't know what makes you think they won't again this year.

This. I'm of the mindset that yeah, if it's a huge game or we NEED something big because we're losing, ok put him back there.

But in general we have other people that can do the job. And we simply can't afford to lose Gurley, he's our best player and probably the best at his position in America. For the people who keep saying "well he returned a KO in his first game in 2012"...true, and if you'll remember after that (when we realized how good he is) we put someone else back there. Between Chubb, Michel, Mckenzie, and everyone else on the roster, we simply dont' NEED to put gurley back there.

LOL, how big was Rocket Ismail? He was a pretty small guy but probably in the top 3 in the NCAA game when it comes to kick returns. You young bucks probably have no idea who I'm talking about so spend sometime on YT and watch this guy.

Most kick return guys are not big but they are fast and shifty runners. Gurley is not the guy to have back there. Keith Marshall would be a better pick in that role than Gurley because his running style is better suited for that. But there are better choices than Marshall even. We need fast and elusive.

Read this in a slow, retarded southern drawl and you know Bobo means business, and this discussion is over.

Do not be surprised if he is back there returning kickoffs against Clemson. Was the first person Ball mentioned for kickoff return when asked who was working back there.

Occasionally why not?

It's not like catching the ball and running down field against the opposition is a foreign concept for Todd.

The bigger the player the greater the force of the impact. Therefore the greater the chance of an injury. I previously explained this.

Hypothetical situation:

UGA is a one loss team heading into the auburn game. Our one loss is to SC. SC is done with SEC play and is 2nd in the east behind us with 2 SEC losses. If we lose to auburn, SC goes to the SECCG. Auburn goes up 3 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. You are the coach and you know Gurley is hands down our best kick returner. Do you put him in there to return the kickoff to give us every advantage we can get?

put him back there. No brainer.

That's different than putting him back there every game for every return.

how do we know that, just because he's our best RB? We have no idea if Sony or Mckenzie are just as good.

Also, didn't we have AJ green returning a punt or kickoff at some point?

I think we put AJ back for a punt a few times. I know we put Knowshon on punt a few times with little success.

Remember this is a hypothetical situation. If he's not the best, then there is obviously no reason to consider putting back there.

Well if the coaches feel that he IS the best, then in your hypothetical I think it's a given you put him there. The season is more or less on the line at that point, so you gotta pull out all the stops.

He may very well be the best, but one must remember it is more than just him. If the rest aren't on the same page or not doing assignments, then well, we all remember how it was...
