Nick Saban is so fricking awesome. Untested. haha, that basically says. "Better than your goddamn team but let's find out together".
That's how I read that. Deal with it.

it would certainly be up for consideration for him to be considered the most underachieving coach in the history of the SEC.
Congratulations

It will be a sad day when Spurrier finally decides to hang up the visor. "Decent" -

Did the HCs actually provide the word or did the SIDs do it?

That is a pretty good stretch to say he is the most under achieving in SEC history.
Pre-Season AP Final AP
2001 NR 22 over achieved?
2002 8 3 Over achieved?
2003 11 7 Over?
2004 3 7 Under?
2005 13 10 Over?
2006. 15. 23. Under?
2007 13 2 Over?
2008 1 13 Def. under
2009 13 NR Def. Under
2010. 23. NR Def. Under
2011. 19. 18 as expected
2012 6 4 over?
2013 5. NR def. Under
I see 4 seasons where there was a pretty significant difference between where his team was ranked pre-season and where they finished. The stretch from 08-10 where the program got very sideways and last year after an unprecedented rash of injuries to 6 key players. The other 9 years his team finished about as expected or better than projected.

Richt has a higher winning percentage than Miles and Spurrier. Saban .748 pct. Richt . 737 pct.
Saban- 2 conference titles
Richt- 2 conference titles
Miles-2 conference titles
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Richt is better than any of these guys, but it's ridiculous to say that he is the biggest underachiever in the history of the SEC. Does that mean Saban and Miles are underachievers because they have the same number of conference titles as Richt?
The primary reason they didn't play for it all in 2007 was because the media stonewalled UGA when they didn't win the SEC by saying a team that doesn't play for its conference title doesn't belong in the title game. Using that logic, Bama had no business getting the LSU rematch a few years later. Most everyone would agree that UGA was one of the two best teams in the country that year.
