not in year one
i think the committee will work very hard to have 4 different conferences repped just to avoid SEC bias outcry

Sure it could happen alright, but it would need to be a one loss team the SEC champ didn't face during the year from the other division say one that just got knocked out of the SECCG by say a trick play?
If UGA is in it we don't care how, when, or why, just that wees thar!

agree
Every year, not just in year 1. Picking the conference champ is always the safer pick, because you can always say that you are just making sure everyone is represented. When you leave out a conference champion in favor of another SEC team, you in a sense disenfranchising an entire conference.
We need an 8 team playoff. This stop-gap measure will get old FAST.

No chance. Football is following baseball, a playoff is the best option to keep the SEC from winning every year. One SEC team only.

Looking at schedules, players lost & who's returning, I ain't 100% sure we'll get 1 in this year...

With committee, no.
If BCS formula was being used, absolutely.

I don't think Georgia should go if their only loss is in the championship game because the championship would act as an unofficial playoff to get into the official playoffs.
So UGA's undefeated regular season means nothing compared to OK 1 loss regular season. In this case playing a CG is a detriment.

Possibly...one thing perhaps in our favor is that Condi Rice will not be recused from voting for Alabama.

If Alabama runs the table and has a last possession victory over a previously undefeated South Carolina who also holds a last second victory over a once only beaten UGA team then the hypothetical wheel kicks in motion.
These things can happen and it wouldn't be a bad thing as in a playoff you still would have to win two more games for all the glory.
In a worst case scenario you still have two non SEC teams in the playoffs and a 50/50 chance of a non SEC champion. At least on paper.

LSU and whatever SEC East team loses to LSU in the SEC Championship.

no way. youre gonna see them playing the "fairness" card. you know , everybody gets a participation trophy.

Depends alot on ooc games vs the SEC. Games like LSU vs Wisc, SC vs Clemson, etc. We have to win those so that the committee has as little of an excuse as possible to skip a 2nd SEC team. Root hard for TN to upset OK. If that happens, it trashes the whole Big 12's credibility.

My biggest question about it would be if #1 and #2 meet in the SECCG which happens, one of the two wins. They typically drop back to around 4-5. Where does that leave them? Is that enough for them to get in? Obviously it's all irrelevant because no scenario plays out twice. Other teams will have different schedules and different bodies of work. Alabama Georgia come to mind in 2012.

No way an SEC champion gets left out in the near future.
I could see a scenario where an SEC school could be left out in the near future. If the SEC champ has 2 losses and all other conference champs are either undefeated or have 1 loss, the SEC could be left out in the cold. Except for the ACC, all other Big 5 conferences will be playing a 9-game conference schedule in the next year or so and, in this scenario, that could very well be a determining factor with the committee. Not saying it'll happen, but definitely a possibility...and, if it does, I'd bet the SEC would be adopting a 9-game conference schedule pronto...

Most years? No.
Some years? Could happen.
No need to fret about it, if you don't win the conference you can't complain about getting left out, because you had your chance.
Alabama was fortunate to get in in 2011, chips fell their way.

However, I think the Committee will do everything possible to put in 4 conference champions.
This. The vast majority of the time it will be the 4 highest ranked conference champions.
Every now and then there will be some screwy scenario that allows for a conference to get 2 teams in, but it will be the exception, not the norm.

Will the SEC get 2 teams in the Playoffs?
If it is deserved, and that's a good chance, we will be screwed by politics by other conferences? A 2nd place SEC team would beat a Big 12 team or a iog ten possibly.
2nd place as in the other team from the SECCG?

So both Oklahoma and UGA have 1 loss, and OU is BIG12 champion?
Then OU is in. I think they will make a P5 champion a priority (as it should be) if records are the same. Everyone says how they want the season to still matter, how does putting a premium on winning your league, not insure that?
Now if you saying OU has 2 losses and UGA only 1, then that will be a close call, it will definatley be questioned.
I do think you need to win your division, the whole sit and watch and make your case on the first weekend in December , shouldn't happen.
* in your scenario you left out the ACC champion , I am assuming they would haveore than 1 loss?
