They just had a 13 game regular season was all.

Fun fact about that team, they were the only team outside of the Southern US to officially win the BCS Title. USC's title was vacated. And half of the BCSCG matchups were all south.

They didn't play Hawaii, but they played 13 games. I'm not sure on the rule, but I think any team may be able to play 13 games if they sacrifice a bye week.

there was something herky jerky going on. This was around the time they were shifting from 11 games to 12 and i think they suspended some of the scheduling rules. I remember LSU played 12 games for a few years but then went back to 11 in 2004 and then back to 12 for good.

The Scott Hunter vs. Archie Manning game. I believe that was the first nationally televised primetime college game.

I am pretty sure this was the first nationally televised prime time SEC game and the the Alabama/Miami game the year before was the first nationally televised primetime college game. I got this from one of the Bama captains.
