My magic 8 ball just said "it is certain"... I put as much stock in that as any of you dipshits around here.

The east is wide open this year. Everyone but vandy and uk have a shot.

USCe lost QB, WR, CB, DLine, somehow they're better?
UF: Come on, I want to believe they can do a total 180 but a new offense, Jeff Driskel? I'm not buying
UGA: Should be the favorite to win, lots of returning skill players, defense should improve, have to play @Mizzou, @USC, vs Auburn.
UTenn: They lost both starting lines, year or two away.
Mizzou's schedule:
Aug 30 South Dakota State
Sep 6 @Toledo
Sep 13 UCF
Sep 20 Indiana
Sep 27 @South Carolina
Oct 11 Georgia
Oct 18 @Florida
Oct 25 Vanderbilt
Nov 1 Kentucky
Nov 15 @Texas A&M
Nov 22 @Tennessee
Nov 28 Arkansas
Mizzou could easily go 2-2 on the road and win all of its home games. The winner of UGA vs Mizzou will be the East winner.

As long as Muschamp is at UF, Richt is at UGA and Tennessee is a below .500 team they do. USC can't ever seem to do it on their own without help. Georgia never seems to have that dominance on an annual basis. Florida won't be dominant until they get a real coach. And Tennessee is gonna take 2-3 years to be in a bowl game again. Pinole is a solid coach in a weak division and could easily win the East with their schedule. Next year they get the better teams at home.
I don't think they are a top 5 SEC team with that being said. But it's possible they could take advantage of some upsets and sneak in like last year.

Did anyone predict auburn and Missouri playing in the sec game lat year? No. You would have been laughed off this board.
Like I said, the east is wide open this year. Everyone but uk and vandy have a shot.

quote:Honestly how is this any different than Mizzou?
USCe lost QB, WR, CB, DLine, somehow they're better?
QB- Franklin, gone
RB- Josey, gone
WR- Washington, gone
WR- DGB, gone
WR- Lucas, gone
Te- some guy, gone
DL- sam, gone
DL- ealy, gone
CB- Gaines, gone
so you can say who we lost and that we won't be better because of it all you want but don't turn around and pretend Mizzou won't have a dropoff based on the same standards.

It's nice to see someone post who has a grip on reality.
That's a rarity around here.

The difference is everyone is calling USCjr the preseason pick, why? Mizzou isn't even ranked because we lost players. How is South Carolina any different?
We have an easier schedule, that's for sure.
We don't have to be better, we just have to be the same, remember we won the East last year, you couldn't beat Tennessee.

People just like us better? Why does other people's opinions cause you so much agony? It's really not a personal slight towards you and yours, and this time of year predictions are worth their weight in horse shite.

Best QB and DL in the East.
Unproven is the word I would go with.

Here's the thing about Pinkel's program. It's at its most dangerous in years when its loaded with juniors and seniors. The formula for the program is to recruit great athletes with speed and size first and foremost, who are hard workers etc, and then teach them to play football the Mizzou system way. The results every few years shock a lot of people. But when we are young, there is price to not having all the 4 star and 5 star types that dot the young rosters of some other SEC programs. It takes longer with us.
The Pinkel cycle, therefore, to me would predict about an 8 to 7 win season this year. The next year after that will get better and if Mauk is around as a senior (and he seems too short to go pro early) alongside several of the other current Sophs, RS Freshmen, & freshmen that we like, my gut is 2016 is the next time you may see Mizzou make another real run at Atlanta - but that also depends of course on how the rest of the East looks that year too.
When Chase Daniel was a sophomore starter, he went 8-5. He won double digit games his junior and senior seasons.
When Blaine Gabbert was a sophomore starter, he went 8-5. He won double digit games as a junior then went pro.
When James Franklin was a sophomore starter, he went 8-5. He was injured and out of it as a junior but then won double digit games as a senior.
The Pinkel Cycle is pretty predictable for the most part. If you're a Vegas type, put the 2014 Mizzou Tigers at 8-5.
