Yea I was just hoping Richt didn't pull any stuff like he was hurt so suspension does not start until South Carolina. People are high on WRs but without Mitchell and JSW I'm worried about that position

We are not deep with a lot of serious talent at WR without Mitchell and JSW.
Watch out for Mason focusing in too much on Conley. Especially with injuries and inexperience at TE.

We are a lot deeper than you think at WR

We're deep. I'm concerned about the level of talent, though. Hope I am pleasantly surprised.

We have more than enough talent. The thing is a lack of game time experience.

I think Mason is going to surprise a lot of people. He's not going to throw for 300 yds a game, imo, but he reads the field pretty well and is pretty damn accurate. It would be a mistake for other teams to underestimate him and leave their corners on an island.

If you take away Mitchell and JSW, right now I'd call our quality depth at WR below SEC standards. We have Conley and Bennett who are reliable, but not elite receivers IMO. After that, nobody has given any indication of being a reliable go-to guy.
Rumph, Tibbs, Davis were all available last year, but none of them showed out during a season when we had multiple injuries at the WR position. A walk-on, Rhett McGowan, ended up catching as many passes as those three combined. Without Aaron Murray's veteran talents, our offense would have struggled mightily last year and I think Hutson Mason will require more help to make things work.

Mitchell is an elite talent, JSW is not imo. I'd take CC over JSW any day of the week.

No disagreement here. I was excluding Mitchell and JSW from the discussion of WR depth because they're injured/suspended. Without those two, our quality depth is suspect until proven otherwise, especially with a new quarterback. Aaron Murray was able to operate under conditions that Hutson may find very challenging.

Yeah, right now I see Conley and Bennett as two high level receivers. After that ....?
Gurley and Marshall do a great job catching out of the backfield which is great, but we are injured and thin at TE, which is not.

Hopefully Rumph has gotten the bugs out of his giddy up. Hegedus is really a name folks are going to as a dark horse WR. Same with Michael Erdman.

So we're gonna rock another Big Ten WR corp

Speaking of TE, what is the latest on Rome? If Rome is limited I can see Uncle Jeb being AllSEC as a Freshman in this offense.

I think the problem with comparing Murray and Mason are that most people are trying to compare how well Mason will play in his first year to how Murray played in his fourth year.
This is Mason's first year as a starter and should be compared to Murray's first year as a starter.
People seem to forget that Murray's first two years were mediocre at best, he started to get better his third year and really came on his senior year.

Big Jeb and Jordon "Suck It" Davis are more than capable. I'm not worried about TE.

Murray was a redshirt freshman. Mason is a 5th year senior. Not really apples to apples there.

I don't think anyone is all that interested in comparing Mason's first year to Murray's first year. The more interesting and relevant question is how will Georgia's offense perform this year with Mason at the helm. He'll have some ups and downs like any first year starter. Can he get up to speed quickly with a WR corps that's starting out less healthy than we'd hoped.
I imagine Bobo has adjusted the offense some; more misdirection and blocking schemes and plays designed to benefit the running game seems likely. More RB screen plays because Mason executes that pretty well.
But we do need Mason to throw successfully downfield to keep defenses honest, and last year I'm not sure he was up to speed on seeing when and where his deep receivers were going to be open. As a result he either held the ball too long, dumped off short, or tried to run. Those things may be better after a spring and summer of workouts as #1.

Mason's blindfold training has prepared him to trust not his senses, but the reality around him.
Mason will be just fine.
