If he let me kick an extra point against UGA, I would guarantee it.

Tre Mason did the ALS challenge, and challenged Therezie and Ricardo...so if it's on the team now, expect a Gus video soon

Or Gus could just have a video of him donating and actually helping the cause instead of just social media whoring like everyone else is doing

I posted something similar on Facebook as I find those videos incredibly annoying but ALS has seen an increase in donations by like 10 fold or something which goes to show the impact it's made. Charlie sheen also did some dumb video where he just dumped 10k on his head.

and donated that 10k while challenging three more people to match his donation

people who do the water still are supposed to donate

if nothing else, this stupid trend has brought a frick ton of awareness and caused a crazy boost in donations

They were talking about the ice bucket thing on SEC NOW today. They said $15.6 million had been raised for ALS.

I understand that it has helped raise awareness, but most people doing it aren't actually donating anything. Not the people my age anyway

Most I know are. Most do the challenge in order to pass it along, but also donate. I mean they've raised over $15M in a month and a half or so.

There has been a ton of studies on donations and the results of those makes me hate the ice bucket challenge. I agree that ALS probably needed more funding but these donations are taking away from other causes that are more prevalent

I am not saying that funding shouldn't go to ALS, just that there comes a point where funding is siphoned from other disease research to ALS, which is relatively minor by population affected

Every study out there shows that people's supply of donations does not expand with these "challenges" and such. This money is redirected from other causes.

ALS affects approximately 30,000 people in the US with 5000 new cases a year. Compare that to prostate cancer which has 235,000 new diagnoses and 29,500 deaths every years in the US.

No one is even going to remember this challenge in a month. There's nothing to be angry about here.

Meh, congratulations ALS for devising a clever marketing scheme. Nothing to criticize them over.

I agree its clever. However, it is extremely annoying seeing all these videos of facebook friends constantly doing it. This is a phenomenon, never seen something this viral where everyone is doing it besides those gay hashtag things people use. It has generated alot of donations though, so you can't knock em.

I don't blame the people who created this idea/ are pushing for ALS. Just making the point that forgotten in this challenge are huge issues that don't get attention but need funding

Quit bitching and start a revolution.

Nothing annoys me more than people that complain about this type of thing. You're incredibly naive if you think people giving $10 is diverting funding from cancer research and the like.

If you want funding for other diseases/issues, then do something about it. If you're not going to act on it, then shut up about it. That goes for everyone complaining about a disease that's raising a ton of money and awareness for itself. How anyone can complain about something positive like that is beyond me. Besides, the ALS foundation didn't even start it. This is where it started - LINK /
