Forbes University rankings
Many A&M grads are very upset with the academic decline that has been going on at the school. Not really a surprise given the leadership in place.

Why? Because some subjective rankings come out? All we have done is increase our funding and research, and continued to increase the number of graduates each year.

The only ranking that matters to anyone is the pay scale. We are top dogs there in value and earning I believe, so I damn sure ain't complaining.

We aren't a liberal arts school. Gays tend to flock to those schools and are paying student loans back (yeah right, increasing debt is all) on minimum wage pay.

The list is really subjective...a small liberal arts school is top ranked. What is the criteria?

True. Some rankings have State ranked #13 in the SEC, and Ole Miss #14.

Alabama is a pretty shitty university for an education.

Also I love how gumps still try and point to the usnews rankings which we have discussed their methodology at length on here and how bad it is.

Also agree payscale is what matters as it represents what an average grad makes with a degree from a given university.

Exactly, we didn't just build our new locker room and stadium on small money degrees like the liberal arts programs offer.

Eesh. Their methodology is questionable, to say the least. Go read it, and the weights assigned to various criteria. Granted, it's Forbes, so there's really no surprise about some of it -- Forbes has its own focus and target demographic, after all -- but I'm not wild about it as a good means of evaluating a college's overall quality.

Why? Because I believe in a stereotype to be true? What's ignorant about it? If you want me to do some research, it'll have to wait for the fallback from the new facilities. But I'm sure statistics will back me up in my research.

LSU has one of the best history departments in the country.I thought about going there for grad school. Instead ended up going back to work. LSU Press is second to none, including UNC and Harvard.

I'm a history major. I had no idea

LSU Press is the only one with pulitzers in both fiction and non-fiction.

Wait...you want someone to prove that, er, "gays" flock to liberal arts schools and pay back their student loans on minimum wage?

I was mainly pointing to the "gays" part of my comment as I assumed that's what the poster was calling me "ignorant" for.

No, I know what I can prove, and that's that gays tend to flock to liberal arts schools. It's not brain science.

I want to know why thinking a liberal arts degree is comparatively worthless to most other degrees, is so offensive to you types.

Was it the language or the actual meaning of the contents?
