I'm sure the ACC will accept OP's compliment. However, I don't think even the most die hard ACC fan thinks that it has surpassed the SEC in football.

I do think the ACC is closing the gap.

No comment on the Big 12.

The Big 12 needs to bring back the championship game to be relevant to this conversation.

Obvious troll, but Duke won it's division in the ACC but lost to A&M who finished fourth in theirs. Having a single elite team doesn't make a conference better.

Were there though? Most of the responses were "Poor Jed" or "Jed has lost it" or something similar. There were actually very few bites, no?

We done our part at Vandy. Four bowls in the last 7 years including thumping a very good Houston team in Bham. Oh, and did I mention we just won the CWS.

I think Jed may have run across some bad shine or a bad stash. I mean, the question of conference parity, slippage, etc. are all decent enough questions but by thread title versus actual post content, Jed can't decide if we're surpassing them or if they're surpassing us.

The Bama/OU game I am gonna say I agree with Saban about it being basically a consolation game for Bama from where they had set their goals and the standard from previous years.

Seriously, what the frick does that even mean? Alabama lost to that frickstick Stoops and his overrated team because the game was below Alabama's dignity or was not being played in the lofty, prestigious venue to which Alabama had become accustomed?

Did Saban really say that? If he did, then frick Saban, his team and Alabama fans if they bought into that self-serving, self-extenuating bullshite! If true, that is why you lost to Oklahoma and you got what you deserved. The rest of the SEC, particularly the SEC teams you beat to get to that bowl, did not deserve the embarrassment showered on them by Alabama's pity party during the Sugar Bowl.

This is part of the reason why a thread like this was started by the OP and why we have had to endure offseason the ignominy of Stoops running off at the mouth about how great Oklahoma is and how he shut the SEC down as he angles for yet another grossly inflated pre-season ranking for his team.

Deep breath...The Tide is also responsible for climate change, the loss of the rainforest and the decline of the whale population.

This is why parents should never name their kids 'Jed.' Or let them attend Tennessee.

I can agree with you on the name Jed but poor Jed has to be a Vandy grad. That's my story and Immma stickin to it.

It's entirely possible. We do have a charity program for Tennessee grads who want to repair the incalculable damage done to their reputation by foolhardy choices made during their senior year of high school. Ah, the sweet follies of youth. We call it "Uncrushing the Orange."
