The frick are you talking about? Saban didn't fundamentally alter the course of LSU or Bama?
Um, no, he didn't.

These were already established, historically good programs, where previous good coaches had already had a lot of success. They just were in down periods (which was why they were in the market for a new coach). I mean, you do understand Alabama would still lead the conference in titles if you vacated Saban's entire career, right?
As for LSU, we had 2 SEC titles in the 80's, went to the Orange another year (when it was a big deal), and had an additional season where we finished top 5. As recently as Dinardo (the guy before Saban), had tied for the SEC West 2 of his last 3 years. Saban fixed things, he didn't build them.

Spurrier built Florida (zero SEC titles before him), and is building South Carolina.
