It's an NCAA recognized national championship.

You have had a hard time with this for quite some time. the NCAA does not recognize football National championships. However if you want to call that recognizing(which it isnt) then there are many others missing, including several for Auburn

Arkansas was not the national champions in 1964.
Alabama was not the national champions in 1966.
Auburn was not the national champions in 2004.

You can make a case for all of these, but you can't claim something that wasn't awarded, unless you want to find an obscure poll that none of us consider equal to AP/Coaches/BCS

(didn't mean to reply to you, but to gator)

You should look up the definition of recognize.

You might start there yourself and then apply it to the NCAA. Those are champions recognized by someone other than the NCAA. Like I said, by your standards, many more are missing, including several from Auburn

The FWAA wasn't an obscure poll.

Take it up with the NCAA then.

Edit: The NCAA doesn't award or select, but they do indeed recognize.

Arkansas won the vast majority of awarded national titles in 1964 in football.

This is most likely because Arkansas was 11-0 with a win over Texas and Alabama was 10-1 with a loss to Texas.

Everybody in Alabama knows that Arkansas actually won the national title that year but they don't want to admit it.

What do I have to take up with the NCAA? Your incorrect application of NCAA recognized?

So according to your standards Auburn needs to add 1983, 1993 and 1913

no they dont, they list polls who recognize them.

It would be better if he didn't include Arkansas, Missouri, and A&M teams that were representing other conferences when they won their titles.

Also, Tulane won a national title in tennis in '59 while representing the SEC...guess that isn't worth mentioning...

The topic was national titles, not conference titles. Whether a school was SEC or not, there was equal opportunity to compete for a national title.

I think he was just trying to list national titles won by current SEC schools.

by right the 1960 Football championship is ours. the NCAA recognizes the cheating beakers and forfeited 2 of their games for using a semi-pro ringer.

We beat a ranked Penn St and #4 ranked Navy in the Orange bowl.

It's really game set match, for Mizzou that season, but since it's Ole Miss, I might say they earned a share.

You didn't win squat. The FWAA is one of many minor polls. Your 1964 claim is barely any more legit than Bama fans claiming 1941, and that one is downright laughable.

You don't like the fact that the two major polls didn't give it to you? Tough shite. You can't make them change their rules retroactively. I think it's ridiculous that Alabama was left behind two teams that tied in 1966, but other than whining like you Arkansas fans, there's nothing I can do about it.
