Disregard my prior statement. I won't be going to Uverse. Uverse will cost me about 40 dollars more a month than Charter for similar packages once the temporary deals expire. One channel is not worth that to me. I'm actually very happy with Charter. Very fast internet with little to no outages. I would consider keeping Charter internet and getting Dish, but don't want to unless they force the issue. Charter will cave in and pick it up.

Charter is tired of me calling

The rep I talked to this week said that's literally their number one query from their sports customers.

i imagine all those over the mountain birmingham customers are melting down charter's phones right now.

dish pulling the trigger early on sec network is one of the few times i've been happy to be their customer.

I'm going to be seriously pissed if Charter continues to throw the Big 10 Network and the Longhorn Network into my HD tiers but can't get the SECN.

I somehow got my uverse bill down to $100.50 with tv and internet. I just told them I'd signed with Comcast and they lowered my bill by $20 and upgraded my internet speed too. Their services are also much more reliable in bad weather than comcast or directv. I never lost service even after the April 27 tornado in tuscaloosa, so I've never had a problem with them.

Charter is HQ'd in STL. I know someone that was in a meeting with one of their VPs this week...didn't get a yes or no but it sounds like they're just negotiating price & terms.

:fingerscrossed:

Yea I thought their deal was good at first but by the time they add all their hidden fees for the extra boxes, HD, required modem rental, etc it added up big time. I'm 95% Charter will have it by kickoff. The question is how many crap channels will I have to buy to get access to this one channel I want. God I hate how cable is set up. I literally watch 5 channels.

If I had to guess, it'll probably end up in their Silver Package

Charter here, only service provider in area. Unfortunately we wont be able to upgrade. Cheaper to go to sports bar 10 saturdays than pay for their upgrade the whole year. Wouldnt work for a liquor drinker.

Luckily living in athens we've got a great sports bar scene that all compete with each other on prices and specials, and great atmosphere.

Slive is a bastard for creating this Creature from Birmingham.

Same.

Honestly I was probably going to upgrade anyways. The next tier has ESPNU and HBO, and wifey was wanting to watch GoT live with me when she gets back. SECN will be added incentive for sure, though.

Not much of a sports bar guy, tbh. I prefer watching from home if I can't travel to the stadium.

And I'll keep calling, tiger perry!

How much is their upgrade? I would drop a minimum of $40 in a sports bar on food, drink, and tips.......and that's just for me.

Good thing is...the Corporate VP of Direct & Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) Sales for Charter is a huge...and I mean huge, Bama fan...(which is ironic, since he got his MBA from Tennessee).

Anyway, if he has any say...and I believe he will, the deal will get done before mid-August.

Nope...Headquarters is in Stamford, CT. Their relocation began in 2012. There are still some holdouts in STL...but the HQ is in CT.

$400 a year at sports bar breaks out to about $33 a month.

My upgrade would cost at least that much. Right now we are on the cheapest plan possible, and mainly just for internet.

Here's the real shite-kicker..... where I live I can't even get DSL so the only internet option is cable, and the only cable provider is Charter. Their cheapest internet-only service is $60, with all the fees.

So even switching to satellite comes out even more expensive for the most basic package.
