3rd and 6 at MIZZ 45...10:35...
Maty Mauk rush for 6 yards to the Geo 49 for a 1ST down

That was his only 1st down rushing. Don't let facts get in the fricking way....

Well, firstly you somehow have such a low opinion of yourself that you think being called retarded means you can't tell the truth. So there's that...

quote:

Thompson is a great garbage time QB, I'll give you that, those nail biters against awesome teams like Coast Carolina (Not a school we've ever played) were sure vindictive (what exactly did these games have against our QBs performance?) of Thompson's real stats. Which in 2 starts last year, he failed to throw a TD. (This isn't even a sentence...) But lets go back 2 years to find the real Dylan Thompson, the one who had Ellington to throw to (two years ago he also had Ace Sanders to throw to, but losing that one NFL receiver didn't seem to slow him down), and not 3 guys who have never caught more than 35 passes in a season (First it was Alshon, then McKinnley, then Ace, and now Bruce... eventually one of our receivers leaving has to effect our offense, why not this year?). Hell your second leading WR last year was your RB (We also return 17 (18, but I'm ignoring Thompson, because, while it would be awesome, it's not likely he throws to himself) players who have a reception which is more than you had total last year (13) and you only bring back eight. We spread the ball around, so sue us?).

Keep plugging along, champ. I believe in you!!

Do I need to spell out for you why stats against Coastal Carolina are meaningless?

Also, you return 17 guys with a reception.....who the frick cares? You can put 3-5 on the field at a time, I don't really care if your 3rd team defensive tackle has caught a pass. Hey last year we had a DT run a play for 40+ yards, I guess we should throw him into our RB stash cause he had a carry. Woopie fricking doo buddy.

No one gives a shite what Thompson did, or didn't do, against Coastal. Although beating an FCS team at home is more than some SEC schools accomplished last year.

Most of us think we'll be OK, not better, because of what he did in '12. And before you disregard the Clemson game, or say it was irrelevant, Thompson did something that Murray and Mettenberger couldn't.

I don't know how he'll do this year. I don't think he'll be asked to win games by himself, and I already said that. But I think he'll be competent, and play well enough to give Davis/Wilds a chance to win the game. Pretty much the same thing that UGA is counting on with Mason, except Thompson has more game experience against bigger opponents. I don't think there's a UGA fan who expects Mason to achieve more than Murray on his own; they're just asking him not to screw it up. Same thing here.

Y'all go ahead and slowjerk to pictures of Maty Mauk, and try to make a rivalry happen. I don't give a shite.

I was arguing with a fellow gator fan actually that USCe wouldn't see much of a drop off between Shaw and Thompson this year, but I was told to go check the stats.

Connor Shaw's emergence as the starting QB at USCe coincides with their best run in school history and three 11-2 seasons.

He was 27-5 as a starter and obviously had an impact in other games he didn't start (see Mizzou 2013) and here are his career stats:

480-733, 65.5%, 6073 yards, 56 TD, 16 INT
452 carries, 1683 yards, 17 TD

That is a ton of production and lot of winning plays leaving. I think you could probably start a thread like this about Aaron Murray as well, but I thought it was more significant in the case of South Carolina, because UGA was good before Murray got there, but South Carolina was mediocre until Shaw got there.

It seems to me that South Carolina may miss Shaw more than I originally though. How do USCe fans feel about it?

I've been preaching this since the end of last season. Shaw does not get enough credit. He is one of, probably THE, best QB that USC has ever had and they act like they aren't going to miss a beat. Just like English going to slide in and we'll never even realize that Clowney is gone.

They are going to miss him BADLY. Thompson isn't half the QB and leader that Shaw was and they lost a lot more than just Connor from this team. I expect them to be competitive due to Mike Davis and the OL, but they'll finish 2nd or 3rd in the East. I wouldn't be shocked to see them slip farther than that, but I won't predict it.

The way that Cock fans are pretending that they are going to be able to just pound it up the middle without missing a beat when I don't think they'll be able to go very deep with limp little Thompson under center and nothing special spread wide to receive for them is...unrealistic at best.

Teams will not respect the run game as much with a statue at QB that doesn't have great targets to throw to or a great pass blocking line and a QB that is a worse passer than the much more mobile, legit running threat QB that just left.

I do love to witness obvious displays of blatant hypocrisy and I gotta admit there are a couple of UGA and mizzourite fans trying to take the cake in this thread.

I mean it's not like UGA didn't fight the same battles when Stafford departed and Murray took over.

And of course Franklin sucked royal donkey balls and Mauk is already far superior.

I lulz at y'all.

Murray didn't take over from Stafford. Joe Cox did, and remember how everyone was saying that we'd be fine, that Cox was possibly even a better passer than Stafford, he had more touch on his passes, etc.?

That is exactly what you guys are doing with DT. He isn't nearly the player you're pumping him up to be, Shaw was superior to Dylan in every way as a QB. Thompson is your Joe Cox. Nosovitch or Mitch is your Murray.

As for Franklin/Mauk...Mizzou fans are in for a similar surprise as USC fans.

No one is pumping-up Dylan Thompson to be another Connor Shaw ... we're pumping-up Dylan Thompson to be Dylan Thompson. More of an AJ McCarron type player. A good game manager who can hand the ball off to good RBs behind a good OLine and who can deliver balls to good WRs and good TEs.

I hope you're right about Mitch or Nosovitch because Thompson will be gone after this year regardless.

Thompson deserves his chance, so we are all pulling for him big time. He's a good Christian kid who has always done things the right way. Outstanding student, played a big role in big games when Shaw was hurt. Beat Clemson at Clemson to keep the streak alive when we went up there as an underdog. Does great community service work. He'll always be a Gamecock, always be a fan favorite just because of the type of young man he is. He's earned this chance to make memories for himself and to stake his claim in life. Threw the game winning TD in the game against Michigan. Beat UCF last year on the road. He's a warrior. He's not afraid to fail, but he believes in his ability so we owe it to him to believe in him as well.

This will be one of the most interesting storylines to follow this year.

I think Thompson will be fine overall, but won't be nearly as impressive as Shaw.

I see Dylan as the guy that may light up some of the lower teams in the league but not sure he will have what it takes in crunch time in big games like Auburn, UGA and @the Swamp to pull those big wins off.

I think 9-3 is probably about where SC ends up this year and I think the step back will be able to be squarely place on the QB position.

Should we expect an east coast can, of a team that's really never done much, to know who our QB will be? After the most polarizing player in college football?

Hell, you're probably still on your knees worshipping the greatness of #2 while we are on to the next star.

Damn, it's bright in here.

Shaw was pretty clutch and seemed to always make the right play in tight spots. The fact that he only threw 1 pick last year is insane. Could see Thompson putting up more passing yards this year than Shaw ever did but he will turn the ball over too. That may translate into 1 or 2 losses that wouldn't happen with Shaw at the helm.

That right there folks ... is one of the dumbest fricking posts you will ever see on the SECr. And that's saying something.

That one may win the prize.

Can anyone here decipher that incoherent drivel?

I am not part of the Spurrier herd at Carolina. And I've been wrong lots of times.

That said, I believe Mitch will be South Carolina's quarterback by the end of the first half of the A&M game.

Slayer, Mitch was offered by just about everybody, including y'all.

What nobody has mentioned is Thompson's tendency to throw floaters. Than can't be done in the SEC, backers and defensive backs are too fast.

Sorry scrooster, I respect your posting style on most things and was trying to get CNB's attention. We're getting flamed a lot these days and he's annoying.

It's bad because I have to try to be bad. It's harder than may you think.
