You must have been putting-off racist vibes ... you know, the whole racist radar thing. Like gaydar except for racists.

Possible, But why didn't all the racists in all the other places I lived for 42 years ever pick up on it?

You seem a little over-sensitive. Like I said, Columbia is a great place. As for using the word ****, if you want to justify your use of that word, just come out an say so.

I've enjoyed the place the different times I've been there over the years. I have generally stayed close to or on campus. Have stayed in West Columbia, too. I was at a conference there when 911 occurred and right after this random homicide occurred which was a topic of discussion but random crimes like this can happen anywhere. LINK. I don't remember Five Points as being bad and I enjoyed going there as well.

I have never been to a sporting event there, though.

Honestly, the south is less racist than the North from my experiences. I'm from Wisconsin. It's one of the whitest states in the country, but all of the black people live in isolated areas. It's like a checkerboard.

The North is more tolerant of other races, in my opinion, because they don't live with them. I know for a fact, being someone that grew up in suburbs of Milwaukee, that most people are terrified to go into the 'black communities' and avoid them at all costs. They feel extremely uncomfortable around blacks because they're not used to their culture. Heck, I lived 20 minutes from Milwaukee and we had 2 black kids in my class of 720.

Down south, blacks and whites generally live together. Sure, they tend to be in different neighborhoods in a given city, but they interact a lot more on a regular basis. The North gives the South crap for racism when they are the most prejudiced of all. Believe me. If we had higher black populations, the same racist attitudes would surface.

Racism is everywhere. Bottom line. It's just approached differently in different regions.

I'm not trying to be racist, I was just being honest on my observations. People in Wisconsin and similar states tend to be extremely prejudice because they almost never interact with blacks. On an average day growing up, I wouldn't see a single black person. The only time I saw black people was when I went to Milwaukee and very rarely you'd see them in the suburbs.

Are Wisconsinites racist? Not saying that. But they're easily more prejudice than the south, and I've lived in both. They like to point the finger at the South for racism when they almost shriek when a African-American walks by their expensive car.

BTW - Razorback Kang is right -- Wisc is absolutely one of the whitest states in the world! If you take out the Twin Cities, it is so white, that Hitler gets a boner thinking about it.
It is what it is

It has a nice zoo. To me, it feels like Beaumont, Texas but replace the amphitheatre (with the big Ford sign) off the interstate with a football stadium.

i like the city well enough, but the location of the stadium kinda irks me from an atmosphere standpoint. that said, from an efficiency standpoint, compared to other stadiums post-game, you can get the hell out of there lightning-fast....

Nc14 talking shite about Carolina fans? Whew. I was almost worried you'd not live up to your own trope.
