The real answer is you may be hard pressed to find something this late that isn't very expensive right downtown.

That weekend is pretty much the biggest weekend of the year for the city. Dragoncon (fantasy convention)is being held right downtown, the football games, braves games etc.

Most likely Midtown or Buckhead will be your best bets. Midtown is a great area as is buckhead and both have Marta train access to get to the dome. You do not want to be driving around downtown on that weekend.

Loews in Midtown

W Midtown

mid town near marta is the best option, buckhead to a lesser degree if you plan on driving around town

Don't forget... Atlanta Pride Weekend 2014 :: August 27 - September 1

also Nascar weekend at Hampton...

Gonna be a zoo downtown, MARTA & walking will be the only way to get around. Traffic will be gridlocked...

I have never stayed at the W Midtown...but I have had a conference there. The interior is really outdated and cheesy.

I thought it underwent a huge renovation a couple of years ago.

Yeah I havent stayed there either, but the videos on the website don't look dated. It must have been renovated.

Great location if it is renovated. Loews is very new and in same location plus you get to have Cafe Intermezzo downstairs. Chicks love that place.

I will go off of your experience then.

I do know that you should not lean against the windows there.

Don't listen to any of these guys.

Geez, it doesn't matter - you will not be there much. Any place within 10 blocks with a bed will do. Don't try to drive through that mess either. Trust me - don't worry about the cost - you'll be parking far away or paying a lot - it will be worth it.
