Even Alex Smith is basically a dual threat. He's definitely pass first -- but he will torch your soul with his legs if you don't account for them(even in the NFL). Smith ran for 631 and 10 TDs his last year at Utah -- about what Relf did at MSU in his best year(2010) in terms of yards -- with more rush TDs than Relf had for his entire career.

I think Mullen just needs a threat to run at the QB position to make the system operate smoothly, preferably enough of a threat to force a LB spy.
