No you actually tried to distinguish yourself from others. You made a statement that eluded to being an alum was a higher, more distinguished category than being a fan.

Correct. So if you are alum then represent the university well because you have ties to it. You weren't born into being an Alabama fanatic, like its a bloodline. Having a more credible opinion about Alabama football falls under how close you are to the program. I like the Braves, but I don't play for them, don't live in Atlanta, and don't know anyone personally who currently plays for them. I do not claim to be a Braves fan. I like to watch the Braves because they are close to Alabama. Same goes for any other sports team I pull for. Alabama football is the only thing that effects my mood that day. Saying that, I am better than your typical Alabama side walker, sorry bout it. If you think its arrogance then good for you. Don't bother replying with that because it is clear to me that some people with low self esteems get their feelings hurt over what someone on a slow day at work types on their computer. Save it for someone else.

quote:

Once someone posted a negative response to your original post you went on to defend it. So apparently you do care what others have to say, which I am sure this post will warrant another response as well. I am glad for your success, but it really has no bearing on being a fan of UA or elevated you to a position to look down on others because they may have less or for whatever reason did not attend UA.

Defending what I said doesn't mean I care about what other people think about my passion for Alabama football. Having a defense statement is just part of a mature debate. Would you rather me not reply and it appear as if I had nothing more to say? Why not get all the facts out there and hear what everyone else has to say, including the rest of what I have to say in rebuttal. Looking down on others is something other people say to someone they want to protect other people from. If your feelings are hurt from what I said then go ahead and lets get them out on the table. Otherwise, if I didn't, then don't complain about that particular part of the discussion. Let others fight their battles for themselves.

Obviously there are more people out there that don't have a degree from Alabama that are standup guys with a prosperous lifestyle. You're a minority and I wasn't particularly calling you out. I thought that was implied when I said wal mart, t shirt, or sidewalk fans. If you wear awl mart shite, then good for you. I don't shop there and I feel higher quality of things fits me better. If you do then whatever, there is a certain class of people who get grouped into the disgraced Alabama fans category. You can usually find them in trailer parks, run down neighborhoods, wal mart, and working a minimum wage job.

Yes. They are blowing that little incident way out of proportion. It's the offseason, so there is little to talk about so it's understandable I guess. Again, they continue to do so because of the reaction they get from some Bama fans.
Let 'em talk/post amongst themselves and thread die pretty quickly over there.

Agree...its nothing but a circle jerk with the same lame posters from certian fanbases starting Bama flame threads. I know its the offseason but it seems like every third thread was a Bama troll thread. The main board is really unreadable...admins dont give a shite.

you can find perfectly good fine people in those places too. If you think you're somehow better than those people just because you are an alum then you are one dumb bastard. A fricking degree doesnt make you a good person and not having one doesnt make you a bad person. But acting like you are better than somebody because of where they live or where they shop makes you a douche.

Nope. Doesn't make me a douche. It makes me a hard worker who used his potential given to him at birth. Everyone is capable of making something of themselves and if they aren't on or near my level of living and expectations, then I don't associate with them. I don't go out of my way to call side walkers out, I tend to myself and my circle. Its a given and visually self explanatory what category people fall under. I don't have to personally assign a title. If this category doesn't apply to you then shut the frick up and stop taking up for a class of people. Im not specifically attacking anyone by name.

Yeah you're a douche if you disassociate yourself from a whole class of people because of where they shop or where they live. Soldiers, nurses, teachers, and lots of other fine upstanding Americans shop at Walmart and live in trailers. For you to act like you're better than them because you are fortunate enough to have a nice house and a nice job makes you a sad human being. You don't know those people's circumstances. Some folks live in a trailer because a family member got sick and they lost their house after paying a mountain of medical bills. Some people lost a loved one to war or disaster and they don't have two incomes to support a family. Some people just want to go to a store where they can buy a whole bunch of different stuff for cheap. So frick you if you think you are better than all of them just because you have a degree from UA. you've got a lot to learn about life dipshit.

Just let him be. All fanbases have his type counted among them, unfortunately.

If those few people really struggle that much to where they literally sell their home and have to move into a trailer and shop at wal mart then ok. I won't hold that against them when classifying people. That is not the case 9 out of 10 times though. Being from Alabama myself, I know what people are capable of and if some have problems then you have a point for that. However, for the others that don't have that problem, there is no excuse not to try and better your life style for your family and yourself. Like I told the other guy earlier in the thread, there is a few that don't fall in that category and they know who they are based on their unique circumstance.

They really don't. All these Bielema threads make it to 10 or 11 pages and it's just page after page of people jumping all over each other like horndogs.

So someone said Roll Tide to him supposedly and supposedly that has to be a Bama fan. Like the Ole Miss spring breakers I suppose.

I never thought of it that way. It might have not even been a Bama fan. But what's done is done.

You sound so uneducated, please return your degree...if you have one. Doubtful at this point.

All you can control is yourself. I don't like our trashy fans, but I no longer let them bother me, for the most part. I'll call one out if I'm at a road game and they're acting a fool, or even in Tuscaloosa on a game day. They're always going to be there, so there's not a whole lot you, or I, or anyone can really do about it.

I do think one thing the University could do is revamping Tide Pride to give alumni priority on season tickets. It would take a few years to weed the riff raff out(and there is a lot of riff raff on the Tide Pride rolls) but you'd slowly see some improvement on game days.
