4* players are usually very good D1 players with a chance at making it to the NFL. Most 3* players are average D1 players with very little chance of making it to the league. That's a pretty big difference in athleticism.

Using the poster's numbers, LSU has 4 4* starters on offense vs. Wisky's 2 4* starters on offense.

LSU has 5 4* starters on defense vs. Wisky's 3 4* starters on defense.

(Hope I've counted correctly.)

Yeah but the big difference is at the skill positions. LSU's average ratings at the skill positions is 4.2 and Wisconsin's is 3.2. The difference between a 4* WR and 3* WR is obvious most of the time. The difference between 4* and 3* Olinemen is much less noticeable and that's where Wisconsin has built most of their success is on those 3* linemen that turn out to be very good players.

ETA: You also have to consider that LSU has three 5* players that will see significant time on offense and Wisconsin has zero. LSU also as 4* depth behind all the starters at the skill positions.

It means he wants Arkansas to take credit for it if Wisconsin wins.

Slow and boring vs boring

Last year Cameron's offense yielded:

3,000 yard passer
1,000 yard receiver
1,000 yard receiver
1,400 yard rusher

But I guess that now qualifies as boring. Short of performing simultaneously with a meteor shower mid-total solar eclipse as the fricking rapture occurs, I'm guessing any CFB offense qualifies as boring in your terms.

Yeah say what you want about Les Miles' offenses, but CC's are anything but boring.

That's part of what's interesting about the numbers. You have stars vs. experience. LSU's WR are raw at best. Only Dural has seen key playing time.

That's debatable how much playing time three true freshman are going to get in a big-time opener.

Granted. But the numbers I posted concern starters vs. starters.

I love hearing when Cam yells at the offense in practice

"If you can't execute we will go back to 1940s football"

We only ran a 1970s offense last year. So with the lack of returning starters I'm hoping for atleast 1950s style of play

It's not debatable at all. Collins is a 5* starter, Dupree will be LSU's 3rd receiver at worst, and Fournette will get 10-15 carries.

So only the 22 starters for each team are going to play? The game is won by the team with more depth 9 times out of 10.

Not True, QL has seen playing time

As Far as being debatable on 5 stars, LSU has some 5 star players that are starting from a couple years ago that are not freshman.

We have several 5 stars that have more experience

What do you mean? Have the coaches alluded to LF being featured in the game? I think 10-15 carries is expecting a lot with the experience LSU has with Magee and Hilliard.

I see him getting 5 carries maybe one catch.

Magee will continue to tear up defenses

Not many bright spots for LSU this year, but I still think they can beat a mediocre Big 10 team.

Depth is definitely another part of the equation. I'm just looking at the comparison of starter vs. starter that one poster presented. I just didn't think the teams were that far apart when experience and likely playing time were factored in.

If you know anything about LSU football then you should know depth is where we pride ourself and get separation from most teams. The way we substitute our players wears opponents down

it's a good matchup and i hope it's competitive simply for the entertainment, but i think lsu will beat them by 14, at least ...

Yeah, I think we are being under sold this year. I think for the first time in a long time we are going to catch some teams sleeping on us

I'm watching Penn State vs Wisky on tv from last year.

Stave will throw at least 2 picks vs LSU

They are getting dominated by PSU at home ranked 15th

Oline doesnt look dominating but Gordon is shifty
