My bad, skipped over that part of his post earlier.
Epps to back up Ingram and have 10-15 receptions.
Pack to be in the rotation and have 20-25 receptions. I think he will get a number of WR bubble screens.
Harris to RS

I agree with those. Really hoping that Harris can step up and earn some PT this year. I think he'll eventually be better than Atta.
But you're right, I don't think he can beat out Moore or Core for a backup spot.

We can all agree that a "disruptive play" out of a DL is a TFL (or sack, used interchangeably), QB hurry, PBU, FF, and INT, correct?
If so, Isaac Gross had 15 "disruptive plays" in 2012 and another 17 in 2013.
Basically, he is good for one, maybe 1.5, "disruptive play" per game is what SouthMSReb is arguing, y'all.
I'm not saying he is right, or that any of you frickwits are right for that matter, but he is arguing that we need a more traditional, 4-3 DT instead of the slightly undersized IG94.
Athlon's top five 4-3 DTs in the SEC for 2014
Chris Jones, Mississippi State - 6'5, 300
Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss - 6'4, 280
Jonathan Bullard, Florida - 6'3, 271
Darius Philon, Arkansas - 6'3, 283
Christian LaCouture, LSU - 6'5, 298
At minimum, these DTs have two inches and 21 pounds on IG94. We could benefit greatly in stopping the run by adding some more beef to the DL.
I think that's SouthMSReb's argument.

Exactly.
I don't understand why he HAS to have the measurable a to be good. So he is a little undersized big deal. As long as his production is there thats what matters.

Not to rehash this again, but the wiki is pertaining to the majority of NT... Which are in a 3-4 set.
And having those stats do not make him overrated

Gross is overrated
Yes.. Most players who started at nose guard as a true freshman in the SEC while weighing in at a whopping 245 lbs and managed to be named to the freshman all conference team as well as a freshman All American team are overrated... He's just a junior now and he has ~ 20 TFLs while battling some injuries in his first 2 seasons.
Typing stuff like this makes you look really stupid... Like Bundy stupid.. Hey... Wait a minute...

Like I said, and TA has proven, the guy is good for a TFL a game. Other than that, he is driven off the ball pretty regularly.
Please don't tell me you've seen Gross consistently hold ground vs a double team?

Good lord, Whistlin, quit while you're ahead. You're wrong. Get over it.
"There are two defensive tackles in the 4–3 scheme. Teams whose base front is an "over" or "under" front will have a nose tackle in this scheme. In schemes whose base set is an even 4–3, there is no nose tackle. Instead there is a left and right defensive tackle. When teams don't have a nose tackle, the tackles line up face on the offensive guards. The nose tackle is generally slightly larger and stronger and plays a shade or head-up technique which means he lines up on either outside shoulder of the center or in the middle of his body depending on which way the strength of the play is going. The nose tackle's primary job is to stop the run and take on the double team (which is getting blocked by both the center and the weak-side or pulling guard) thus freeing up the linebackers to make a play. The second defensive tackle (simply referred to as the defensive tackle, under tackle or three tech) is generally a bit quicker and faster than the nose tackle, ideally weighing close to 300 pounds (140 kg) but quick-footed enough to shoot through a gap at the snap.[5] He plays a three technique meaning he lines up on the outside shoulder of the strong side offensive guard. The job of a three tech is to: prevent the run, keep the guard off linebackers, and rush the quarterback on pass plays."

The fact that he is getting doubled means he is doing his job. That's freeing up someone else. Disruption is way more then just recording a stat like TFL or sack.

Because we all know there was sooooo much talent on the team after Nutt left.... He was handed the starting job and, despite his lack of size, made a handful of plays no doubt. You guys are missing the point and just fapping to one of your favorite players. I don't blame you for being homers.

No the fact that he is getting double teamed is because it's hard for the center to block a shaded nose guard requiring help from his guard.
And it's not doing your job if your not holding your ground against the double team.
Did you people play football?

I just watched the first defensive series vs bama from 2013. Please go watch and tell me what you think...
Posted on 7/16/14 at 8:21 am to SouthMSReb
Also, against Bama, they fumbled the ball 3 times in the first quarter and a half and recovered all three.

So, I just gave you 9 TFL's and 3.5 sacks(more than any returning SEC DT) and that's not enough to empress you? You really fricking think one defensive series against Bama is going to sway my opinion when 12.5 instances didn't change yours?
frick you.

You use a drive against the team that was one FG return TD away from probably winning their 4th Natty in 5 years to prove your point ?!? Here's my point... He's the best option we had at the time... If Nutt could've held on to guys like Craig Drummond then we could've RS players like Gross.. But he didn't ... So Freeze and staff couldn't... So he was the best option we had... Stop being so retarded.
