For a team that lost a bunch of starters, I think 9 wins is not only doable given our schedule, but I will be disappointed if we don't. My projection for the year is 9, but I see a low of 7 and a high of 10.

Pinkel's recent comments at SEC media days regarding he and the staff's ability to teach football if the raw tools are there combined with his comments about Harris and Loud encourage me. HCGP has never been known to be a smoke blower, and if you listen to his carefully worded comments about players you can get good insight as to what he actually thinks he has at any given position. Our interior DL may be as deep as it has ever been in Mizzou's history, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a breakout star there this year.

At WR, Pinkel's comments indicated that we will adapt our offense to what we have in abundance, namely balancing passes to WR, TE and speedy RB's, as a way to offset the loss of so many passes caught only by the WRs. I think Mauk will prove that he will use his feet not just to run for meaningful yards, but also to buy time to find open receivers no matter where they are on the field. The key there is keeping him healthy, because that's not Berk's skillset.

We have our usual three-headed beast at RB. All three are fast and capable, and this year they will get pass catches. If we do that effectively, it's going to create nightmares for defensive coordinators trying to cover and tackle Hansbrough, Murphy, and Steward with slower LB's after the catch.

Our OL might well be the biggest strength on the team after DL. We don't have to replace too much and our development of two and three star guys is second to none in the conference.

LB is unknown to me simply because of all the personnel changes. Last year exposed our lack of speed at LB (Auburn game) and we give up experience but will gain speed at the position. Losing the Mack truck that was Wilson and his huge number of tackles means that we need to see a guy or two emerge as sure tacklers in this unit.

It would not surprise me to see Penton get All-SEC honors at CB by the end of the year, but I'm unsure about the other backfield positions, other than knowing we have good talent back there.

Because of all the new starters (most of whom got significant reps last year as backups) coupled with Pinkel and his staff's development program, it will be fun to see who emerges as stars other than guys like Golden, Ray, Boehm and Mauk that the SEC media haven't seen coming. If either Loud or Harris (or both) are big revelations, this is going to be a fun year.

We have 3 Seniors starting at Wide Receiver and Freshmen who could play right away. I'm not worried about WR's at all, a good QB can make WR's look amazing.

This team will live or die because of it's Linebackers/Corners/Safeties. The offense will be perfectly fine.

The pundits disagree.

I've learned not to bet against Pinkel and Co., but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about WR as well as LB/CB/S.

I do like the fact that we have Seniors at WR. I also like some of the youngsters, I just feel uneasy over the fact that they are all unproven.

Hunt is going to do well this year, watch the Florida tape from last year, he was all over the field. If White can produce and Moore can surprise people I don't really think we will have problems.

Everyone is looking at the "Starters replaced" and ignoring the fact Hunt and Sasser have been playing downs for the last 2-3 years.

Also before last year did ANYONE in the SEC know a Mizzou WR other then DGB? Honestly, how many games did DGB completely disappear in? Washington was hurt for the better part of the last half and Lucas often had games where he wasn't even a factor. People are looking at stats and only stats. 3 Seniors is a lot of experience to return, whether they started or not. I expect big things from the offense this year, Hans is going to run wild.

Forget the pundits, etc. they never know anything about what Mizzou has.

Last year I knew we had a good WR corps. I'm not sure this year. I'll give GP's body of work the benefit of the doubt though. WR has always been solid for him. I just don't know a lot about the guys.

Yes, Sasser, Hunt, and White played last year, however, I don't ever recall thinking, "Wow, so and so is gonna be great next year."

That's my concern, but like I said, I'll give GP the benefit of the doubt and see how things play out.

The offense will be fine. I don't expect the offense to be as strong as it was last year. Didn't they set some Mizzou records last year? I could be wrong.
