I understand, that's only natural but it's not as simple as TG = touchdowns. Look at 2008, we put knowshon back to return about 3 or 4 punts that year I believe, he averaged like 4 yards per return.

Damn..

It doesn't feel right seeing Conley as a Senior...

Also if JSW lights it up this year (No THC) I could see him leaving us for the pros

If jsw stays healthy, he gone.

We'll have reggie davis, tramel terry, langley, mckenzie, and blazevich at te next year, with some good running backs and a couple of hot shite young qb's to choose from. Dont worry about 2015.

Wasn't WR Langley's better position in high school?

Only a few more weeks until the weigh ins, and I can't wait to see the gains/losses made during the offseason.

Patrick Peterson and the Honey Badger were both starters and important to LSU...but they didn't have a problem letting them return kicks or punts.

What position did Peterson pay? We know that Honey Badger's wasn't as brutal as TG's...and TG is so much more of a factor in UGA's success than Honey Badger's was for LSU. Do you want to take a chance with that?

I would've thought Isaiah McKenzie would be at KR since he was crazy electric there in HS.

I don't think he enrolled early so they wouldn't have put him in that lineup. I think we all need to calm down for this year because that list will definitely change after summer/fall practices.

I do feel like there will be a natural dropoff expected for next year just like there was a natural drop expected after 2012 on the defensive side. The difference then was that we were more confident b/c we had an offense that could pick up the defensive slack (which would have been the case if not for the injuries). Nevertheless 2015 will be a 2006 kind of year with one exception. Our defensive coaching will be a huge step up and they will be in their second year.

So cheer up we will still have an awesome backfield, three really good QBs to choose from, an offensive line that will have some quality backups with playing time, and potentially some new stars at the WR and TE positions. Besides we will still be flying high from the NC we'll take home this season.

TG didn't enroll early and he returned kicks his freshman year. I don't think there's much to the playbook for returning kicks.

Is Merritt Hall really the best we have at FB?

I mentioned that b/c there was a remark about McKenzie not being listed. I do agree not much to the KR position just catch and run behind the blocking assignments and take a knee or fair catch it.

I think this is due to QH pissing off the coaches last year? He started off strong and then just seemed to disappear from the starting lineup.

I really frickin hate that we play bama next year, because just looking at who we lose, we might be in for a really long season in '15.

Its no excuse. Bama will lose kids too.

Also Rivals sucks.

I don't know if that's a serious question? If you don't know who Patrick Peterson is...you must've just started watching football like last month. Honey Badger's impact was huge in the secondary at LSU even if he was off and on good in coverage. He'd blow coverage once then get a pick on the very next play.

Gurley's dynamic with the ball. He makes things happen. He got hurt not returning kicks/punts last year. I don't see a problem putting him there to return stuff. Clearly I'm in the minority...I don't remember anyone bitching about Boykin being back there when he was a solid starting corner.

Gurley can't run 80+ yards without missing a quarter of football afterwards. He had to get fluids after the run against Buffalo. He's had issues after long runs against Florida, Clemson, and several other teams.

I know that it's about scoring TDs. But we can't lose a guy like Gurley for even a quarter if we don't have to. Our offense is a different animal with him on the field.

How often are we expecting to be in a 3-4 defense?

With Grantham, it was very, very rare (N Texas, LSU, Georgia Tech, and a little versus Nebraska).

I think Pruitt trusts the scheme more against spread teams. So it might be closer to 50% of the time (versus Grantham when it was about 20%).

I also see Toby Johnson in a 3 technique (not NT).
Chris Mayes will play a lot of nose (unless Pruitt hates big guys). Taylor won't be playing end in a 3-4 either (too big for pursuit... He might be in a 3 technique when we have 5 DBs, but he will be nose otherwise).

It may not mean anything but in the spring game Pruitt mostly went with a four man front.

It was actually a 5 man front against the I Formation (i.e. our 3-4 scheme in a 52 front).

It looked like 3-4 for most of the first drive (even when the offense spread out). This keeps 5 guys on the line of scrimmage helping to stuff the run (i.e. Grantham was good against the run with the 52 front against N Texas, LSU, and GT. But he was afraid to run it against spread teams because he was worried about being exposed against the pass).

Pruitt said at his introductory news conference that “we are and will be a 3-4 defense,” but told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution last week that he used a four-man front about “about 80 percent of the time,” during Pruitt’s one season at Florida State.

Which means Floyd's going to be in a 3-point stance and pulling the trigger most of the time. Can't say that's a bad thing, especially if it's true he's put on ~15-20 lbs this offseason.

3rd down and 8 on the first drive, offense goes spread. Defense goes 4-2-5 nickel with Floyd/Jenkins on each end rushing. Gurley exposes Herrera (as he would any ILB) on a short cross for 27 yards (later called a touchback saying Gurley fumbled).
