Yes I do think Maten will eventually take Nemi's spot in the starting lineup. Partially cause people are saying he looks really impressive and could be that could once he gets adjusted to the college game but also because it is nice to bring a guy off the bench who can score the ball like Nemi. Really starting is kinda overrated IMO, more about who finishes games and that depends on matchups.
and I love the lineup with JJ at time but there are certain matchups that it does not work very well for. Mann has only played pg for 3 years in his life now and i expect him to improve a lot. He has the work ethic and desire to do so.
And prediction wise I will say around 10 or 11 SEC wins, I think the SEC will be improved. MU and Auburn upgraded coaches, several other teams won't be as bad this year. Should be a fun season to watch. With our improved non conference schedule if we can get out to a good start we will definitely have the RPI and strength of schedule to make a bid for the tourney.

When Beasley signs, I see him starting from day one. I could see Morris coming off the bench as a "6th " man and averaging 6-10 points. If the dawgs don't get JB, Beasley and Jackson are a must get IMO. I don't give a shite if we run a 4 guard set. We need talent. Those guys are as good as they come in the college game.

Ya I agree, if we landed beasley I think Fox would have to go small and start him,. play Morris at the 4 since we will be hurting in that position without Thornton or Nemi and then cross match Mann to guard their 3 man. Not ideal but would be a great offensive move and give us our most talented lineup out there. And obviously if we got JB then he would start.
All of these guys would be great gets but I wouldn't call any a must. Mack is a terrific offensive player, sheffield is a top 100 level guy and cheathem might be the best combo guard on our list. We have got some options, just need to close out with a few of them.
These are all 2015 kids tho so wouldn't have to think about where they fit in for a whole other season so I'm sure we will see a little more roster change between now and then.

While we're making predictions, I'll say 10-8 in SEC play, decent record against what should be a tough non-conference schedule. I think we sneak in the field of 68.

Great thread guys. Tiger, why don't you post more over here in football discussions and such?

This has been a quality thread, looking forward to contributing a lot here. And I read the football recruiting thread every day and love the work that everyone does there, I just don't have much to contribute to the football side.
I coached HS basketall in Athens for 2 years while I was at UGA and I am a HS coach in Missouri now. I will be sure to pass along any info I get and look forward to hearing from everyone else. Love all things UGA but I'm a huge dawgs hoops fan.

Something tells me Cheathem ends up G'town. It would be nice to have a tall lanky guard because we haven't really had one since Ezra Williams. (Not that he was that lank). Mack should be a Dawg but I have a feeling he'll have that Juwan Parker syndrome; meaning it will take him a year or 2 to polish his offensive skills at the college level. JB could come in and lead the league in scoring as a freshman before heading to the league. (Could you imagine him staying 2 years in Athens?!?!) Beasley's game reminds me a lot of the Erick Bledsoe kid that played at UK. I could see him averaging double figures as a freshman and being one of the better rebounding guards in the league as a freshman. All of this sounds peachy but we gotta ink them on NSD. (Whenever the hell it is???)

Yeah, the city of Columbus is really going to embrace his family like Athens would not have Could have called your shot in Ga and been loved for life.

I agree with you Kneehigh on Cheathem. Would be great to land him or will Jackson as that longer combo guard. You might be right about ack but I actually think he is better than Parker. Reminds me a lot of Jordan Adams from UCLA. Solid size, average athlete but can just fill it up on the offensive end.No doubt JB would be an All-SEC player for his one year. beasley is similar to Gaines but more skilled, not quite the athlete but close. Definitely think he is a better prospect.
And basketball doesn't have the NSD, they have 2 separate week long signing periods. The early signing period is in mid November and I think all of these kids will make their decisions by then. The late signing period is at some pointi n April.

Tiger, that's a great comparison for Mack. I think he may actually be better on the offensive side of the ball. Adams was a terrific on ball defender. I haven't seen much film on Mack so I'll reserve my judgement when there's more information.
I knew there were 2 signing periods and not a "NSD " persay. I just have no idea when the hell they are. This class could be special. I also appreciate your participation durning this thread. You seem to be a very intelligent guy who knows his stuff when it comes to the hardwood.

excited to contribute and keep this thread going! Love talking UGA hoops. Good timing to start the thread too cause all of these guys are on commitment watch for the next few months. You are spot on about Adams. Don't think Mack is that on ball defender or at least not yet but I love him offensively, very similar IMO.
As much as I love JB and really like Will Jackson since I know him and coached him personally, I would be ecstatic with a class of beasley and Mack. Would be a great haul. Then find 1 big man who can contribute in some way. Would be our highest ranked class in awhile.

Rosemond is set to have a one on one with Jaylen this week. This is great news! He met with Fox last week, now with Rosemond.
