Because them failing at AU = them failing at UT.
Both position groups played more competitive and with more heart then under previous staffs, despite several players being walk ons in the backfield.
Your Total Defense last year was worse then UTs regardless. Specifically in the back 7. So your point almost goes out of the window. Again, even with us having to start or have walks on taking on role positions. I'd say that speaks more about what AU as a program has been able to accomplish on the defensive side of the ball more then it does Thig and Martinez's coaching ability.

Nobody thinks these guys are going to be world beaters, but they've done ok for a year 1 staff with significant talent deficiencies in every category.

Georgia, South Carolina and Florida all have a higher ranking per player than Tennessee does. Georgia's avg per player is 90.01, South Carolina's is 89.44, Florida's is 88.98 and Tennessee's is 87.89 per 24/7 so the chances of Tennessee winning the SEC East recruiting title aren't good.

You realize this is what all the haters said last year, right? How'd that workout? With a top 5 class. As for having the top class in the east? I don't give a shite, we just need to keep doing what we're doing and we'll be fine.

Williams, McKenzie, Gibson+a wild card. With all the other high quality guys they're in on I think somebody could get bumped or they could land somebody who it doesn't look like they'll get right now. With all the elite guys they're in on you have to think one will come from somewhere.
