Should we be better next year as a team?

Pitching- Starters should be better because we return everyone and we have a lot of good young arms (Hudson, Sexton, Billingsling etc) now obviously our bullpen won't be as well losing Holder and Jacob both of those guys will be hard to replace.

Infield- Hard to be much better than we were but don't look for a drop off at all. We return everyone except Pirtle but John Holland should step in and either take 2B over or SS and move Heck to 2B

Outfield- This is a toss up because we lose armstrong, demarcus, and CT but IMO they are hard to replace like a Renfroe type arm or bat. We will rotate a lot of guys around until something sticks I would imagine.

Hitting- Tough losing CT and Pirtle going to have to have young guys step up. I think Collins, Humphreys, and Garner are all going to be hitting for power next year and that is what we lacked this year.

This is obviously just a IMO thread but what do y'all think with kind of the same setup?

I think we will be slightly better. Just can't drop the easy OOC games.

No doubt

I am hoping Garner, Humphreys, Collins, and Wes can give us that element of hitting for power that we didn't have at all this last year.

Pitching

Probably won't be as good as this year unless someone just goes nuts next year, but we have a pen full of solid arms. Starters should be ok, it just seems we always lose 1 of our projected weekend guys to injury and there's no way you can predict that.

Infield

I would say about the same. Holland and Heck up the middle look to be pretty solid. The only way this group improves is if Humphries gets the majority of the starts at 3B (fingers crossed). It's gonna be hard to improve upon the highest fielding percentage in school history, but the bats could definitely improve.

Outfield

I would say it's going to be a lot easier to replace the platoons that we trotted out there this year than it was to replace Renfroe. Swinarski is supposed to be the real deal so I hope he lives up to expectations.

Hitting

Again, if Humphries gets the majority of the starts and we can get Garner in there at DH, look for next years squad to be leaps and bounds better at the dish.

Next years prediction: Better

Hopefully better OOC, and the same or better in conference. Would have been a great year this year if we wouldn't have lost those meaningless games at the beginning and had more power. I expect a better performance in both of those areas, so next year should be pretty good, given the pitching drops off a tad.

The entire success of next year's season relies on pitching. Just like it does every year. And unfortunately, I think losing Jacob and Holder is a huge blow. Not sure how you recover from that immediately. It's gonna take time.

I would bitch slap him just for the hell of it, but to answer your question, no.

Oh, and he's currently hitting .293 with 16 HR's and 52 RBIs

Someone in the know...

What was the deal here ? Grades ? Family financial issues ? If it's the latter then it's only gonna get worse cause his parents are gonna have to give him $ to buy food with by this time next year.

3 years of putting in work with Butch Thompson and working your way into an SEC rotation is definitely gonna land you in the top 15 rounds.

So I'm guessing you're ignorant to the actual question.
