I'm pretty jaded right now. This year was a huge disappointment. When you are going to be average, it's better to be average getting the future of the program experience instead of average seniors that are now gone and couldn't carry us. The only FR that actually saw this was Collins. You'd be hard pressed to make me believe that Swinarski/Rooker/(insert name here) couldn't have played left and hit .260 with 6 extra base hits in 216 plate appearances...

To be honest I think playing 6 different outfielders hurt us in that regard. I think if you would have given 3 of those 6 the majority of the AB and starts they could have put up much better numbers.

I don't like changing the lineup every single game based on who the other teams starting pitcher was.

If Henderson leaves, we won't have a single experienced righty returning in the outfield. Hard to play matchups then. So, do we put it all on Vickerson? He hardly did anything to inspire me that he deserves to be an everyday guy. Much rather make that spot a position battle with Cody Brown and let everyone else fight over the other 2 depending on who can hit for power...

Exciting outlook for 2015. I definitely do not see Hann at 2nd though.

Outfield seems completely up for grabs. I expect at least one guy to separate himself from the pack and the other two to rotate, at least early on.

Pitching will be strong based solely off what we have returning. I expect one of the Freshmen to step in and have immediate impact in a regular role there.

Collins returning at C. Kid is going to be good, really all there is to say about it.

I understand where you are coming from but those kids are developing a lot even though they didn't see the field. There is such an incredible learning curve from the HS to collegiate level, and most of it can be taught without experience.

You can't get by on talent alone, that is the biggest change. Most kids struggle with learning how to approach at bats and manage the situations. I feel like it's a big deal that they were able to watch and learn that without making detrimental errors.

I agree to an extent. Definitely with the raw players we were getting early in this regime. But when you start getting these nationally elite guys rated 9-10 by PG, those guys have seen elite pitching for several years on their summer squads. There is not quite the learning curve for guys like Humphreys. We just didn't let him play consistently enough to get comfortable and find a groove. Collins struggled mightily at the plate early too, and it was quite obvious by late in the season that he'll be an elite hitter sooner rather than later...

Few people "learn" much or get better at baseball while sitting on the bench. They are still going to make the mistakes -- the timeframe for those mistakes is just being postponed until they are actually playing... Hence why if this was going to be a transition year, I'd have preferred to go ahead and transition and get all the young guys time. Most of them are gone in 3 years anyway.

If? Hailstate's roster says he's a senior. I vaguely remember a chance for a medical RS, But wouldn't we know by now?

He may not have been the most consistent, but you can't tell me he didn't have flashes of an outstanding player...

If you read through the first page we discussed that. That's why holland and hecks names are bolded and not Hanns.

I doubt Hann will be back. Gridley and Burdick should provide some depth in the MIF.

The baseball twitter said that Hann and Robson were applying for a medical redshirt. I don't know if that means they will be back but that's what I assumed. It was rumored they had left the team all year though.

As deep as Woody and Holder are projected right now by PG, wouldn't be surprised to see them both back. Especially Holder, he's pretty much guaranteed a better season next year.

Baseball America has:

Lingren 50
Woodruff 200
Holder 286
Vallot 47

Why isn't Pirtle getting any love?

probably his size, but I think he will get picked up by someone. He plays too hard and has too good a glove. Being a switch hitter doesn't hurt either. Anyone know his stats from each side of the plate?

I think we hold on to any Juniors over 200, I always forget the specifics of the draft though so that may be a shot in the dark.
