Me:

I also don't see why y'all have such high expectations for next year. It's a first year coach with a makeshift roster with a bunch of late spring signees.

You:

Why? Because we've seen this exact scenario produce a fantastic team before.

quote:

See: Calipari nearly every year with a rebuilt roster.

What exactly am I taking out of context? I know you aren't saying that they will be as good as UK is most years, but you're still using Cal's success with rebuilt rosters of 5-star recruits to justify your expectations for Tyndall's rebuilt group of 3-stars and unranked players. It's such a massive difference that your comparison is "laughable". Don't get so damn defensive. All I'm saying is that there is a possibility that y'all won't be in the top half of the SEC. That's not an insult to your program or your coach. It's his first year, and he wasn't given much to work with. Tyndall was actually one of the realistic options I was looking at for Alabama when Grant's tenure here for next season was under question.

You really don't know? If that's true I feel bad for you. Oh and lies of omission are lies all the same. While I won't use such a harsh term as 'lying' you're omitting a great deal in an to set up an argument that was never made in order to knock that imaginary argument down. Picking and choosing then stretching a statement and/or statements you choose, conveniently removed from context, until decontextualized sentences snap like a rubber band is a poor man's debate tactic.

Setting fire to the straw man you create is neither a winning tactic let alone an honorable one - unless of course you know no better.

Again, I never thought you were saying that you were going to have UK's kind of success. If I thought you had said that, I would have posted a simple "LOL" and moved on. I know y'all aren't delusional enough to think y'all will be capable of being in next year's championship game. The fact is you used UK as a comparison to back your expectations for UT next year. Why even mention it? They are completely different situations...

FYI: I edited the post before you posted. I didn't take anything out of context in my mind, but I can see why my post led you to believe that. I at no point thought you would be dense enough to believe UT would have that kind of success next year. The comparison just doesn't make sense to me.

I see a lot of totally mismanaged expectations in this thread.

Who will be your best post player? Eric McKnight?

And there's a fairly large difference between not having a true point guard and simply not having a point guard at all... Chiles doesn't count.

Tyndall will be the first coach ever to start five wings!

WG Chiles
WG Hubbs
WG Mostella (if he gets through the clearinghouse)
WG Richardson
WG Moore

War Room Update

Tennessee expects a commitment from Tariq Owens this week.

Rawane N'Diaye is not expected to return which will leave another scholarship open.

Tennessee is pushing extremely hard for Carter. Likely to get a visit.

#1 priority overall is Braxton Blackwell (2016). Staff feels elite players from TN with no ties to Memphis "cannot get away". Tennessee will recruit him extremely hard.

Let's not ignore the fact that Chiles has been doing this in the Summit League while Golden was in the SEC/ACC...

Chiles has never had an A/TO ratio over 1. In the Summit League. He's not a PG.

Sounding tonight like there's a good chance Darius Thompson will return.

He's going to announce his decision even if it is to stay with his current college? Seems strange.

Yeah. VQ is pissed. Nobody wants him to stay. I do though. We really need someone who can distribute. Sounds like it is VOLS or UVA. He is visiting UVA right now. Not sure what their scholarship situation is like though.

Why the hell wouldn't they want him to stay?

Honestly, I do not want him back after reading that update. Take that attitude and lackadaisical play somewhere else.....

quote:

I hope he goes somewhere else. This is a slap in UT's face.... They gave this mediocre player a free ride and he is visiting other schools. Personally, I will never accept him back and really would like for him to leave.

quote:

Show him the door!

quote:

GTFO after this. What a joke... He has no loyalty.

quote:

Well, he's not one of "our players" unless Purdue and Virginia turn him down. Kick his arse to the curb.

quote:

Didn't get the offers he and his Dad expected he'd get, so now he wants to keep UT hanging. Curb stomp him.

quote:

Get rid of his sorry arse. He's no longer welcome here. I really hope Donnie tells him as much and makes an example out of his lack of loyalty. I really hope he reads this thread and sees that fans want absolutely nothing to do with him. You're either a VFL or your not. He's proven not to be.

So dumb. There is no doubt Thompson makes us better next year.

Wtf is with Tennessee fans and saying that. I met a Vol fan at a bar the other week and the first thing he said was " Do we got any other VFLS up in here!" I cringed.
