We have sustained success in decades past, but recently its been a challenge. Coaching changes, offensive philosophy changes, and Gene Chizik. Add in the recent success of Arkansas, Alabama and LSU and there is your answer.

If you go back to 1999 then yes that was the epitome of Auburn football. That was Tommy Tuberville football. We had sustained success in the 80s. I think Gus Malzahn will be the difference now.

FTR, only Florida has more SEC titles since 1980 than AU.

I liked Tommy Tubbs but he was very consistent when it came to changing coordinators every two to three years. It hurt us a lot offensively Bama is going to find out with Kiffin .

It will continue. 8 or 9 wins for AU this year.

Tennessee and UGA have both had consecutive ten win seasons and top 10 finishes more recently than Auburn.

Auburn is simply the SEC's bipolar team.

I don't know how you define "sustaining success" but AU was good in the 80's, 90'2, 00's and this decade as well. They've won conference championships each decade. This rivalry is so fricking ugly that it's hard for either side to even acknowledge positive things about the other side. When you're so consumed with hatred that you can't tip your hat to greatness, you might need to push away from the table.

When was UT? It has been a decade since UGA had back to back AP top ten finishes.

Consistent and being unable to string together back to back 10 win seasons it would seem.

Tennessee finished in the top 10 five seasons in a row, 1995 - 1999.

07 and 08 we finished in the top 10 in the poll that actually counted for something.
