So Tennessee apparently won't pay his buyout?

But I thought Tennessee wasn't poor?

The buyout that is being referred to is the buyout he would receive if Tennessee fired him. Apparently he wants a larger one.

It is not an issue of his La Tech buyout.

The buyout issue isn't about us paying his buyout.

It's about how much of a buyout both sides want in any new contract.

Hell, I thought the school paying for the new coach's buyout was typical but I guess not.

Maybe someone should inform Hart that Howland's buyout is $0.

Eta- I stand corrected.

Well he's not hired yet. All we've got to go on is a radio host but the media's been so out of the loop on this coaching search that it's been comical and getting more comical.

Listen Vols. Tell your AD to get his (@&;$ together. When you have a string of coaches leave/get fired, you're going to have to up your buyout money. That's reality.

247 says White could remove his name from consideration soon if Tennessee does not up the buyout. Doesn't sound like Tennessee is willing to do that.

I'm not sure 247 knows much or VQ for that matter - they don't have the inside connections they used to have before Hart took over and cleaned out a lot of people. The press has been shut out of this whole process.

Hell they told us Cuonzo was gone to Marquette and had no clue about Cal yet we know now that Cal had contacted Zo as early as the SEC Tourney.

ETA: Also there seems to be some twitter weird media war going on between Basillio and Rucker with Basillio and his people freaking out about the hire (not even describing issues properly) and dissing Rucker. I don't have faith in either group but it's humorous that Basillio's group is saying they know more than 247 and that Wes is basically a dumbass.

I heard he wants an easy out to Ole Piss for when that job opens up. Basically saying I will coach for any school but when Ole Piss has an opening. I am gone.....gone

White and Tennessee were very close last night. Hangup has been the buyout and Tennessee does not seem willing to budge on that. If it cannot be worked out soon he likely removes his name. Tennessee does not want to attach itself to a large buyout if things don't work out. If Hart changes his mind, White is likely still the guy.

Latest update.

Possible he could have an exception to his end of the buy out if he were to leave, example if the Ole Miss job opened and he got it he could leave with out penalty. He gets fired he gets x amount of money, he leaves for anywhere else he pays x amount of money.

It was rumored Bill Self had an exception in this contract while at Illinois to go to Arkansas or OKState with no penalty.

Doubt Tennessee would be willing to do that for Ole Miss, especially since that could open up in the next year or two. White is probably not worth it for only 1 or 2 seasons.
