Cool and love the new high standards at Bama...

No Auburn fan should have anything to say about not having ability or earning the job because of your current QB who just went through Spring FOR THE FIRST TIME under Malzahn

Auburn is your rival and we can say whatever we want to rustle thy crimson jimmies.

Coker was a highly coveted back-up at FSU, so TTs asks what tools does he have

It's a fair question to ask especially since he will be starting whether he is great or not.

Ryan leaf was big so...

4. Experience - He and Sims are the only QBs on Bama's roster who have actually gotten in and played in a D1 game

Ask Sims if it has helped him in his status with the Bama fans.

Ryan Leaf was an animal in college (albeit against terrible competition)

And I know it hasn't helped Sims...can't get blood from a turnip

The high expectations will destroy this fan base even more. Can't wait.

No expectations

All Coker has to do is be "game manager" enough to let a low score win with the D Bama will have this year

ETA: Anything else is complete and total icing on the cake

Nick Marshall only had to battle Jeremy Johnson (a true freshman going through his first summer at Auburn), Jonathan Wallace (a true sophomore that was not recruited high and had only a spring of Gus Malzahn's offense under him), and Kiehl Frazier (fricking lulz here). Little bit of a different situation, IMO.

You didn't see anything magnificent from Nick Marshall before he got to AU he was a DB at UGA for goodness sake.
Nick Marshall was a defensive back one year at Georgia, and a quarterback the rest of his life. Why do people always overlook this?

1. Already shown to be highly competitive from at least earning #2 at FSU
Again, in 2012 he was 4th string, and in 2013 he would have been 3rd string had Clint Trickett not transferred out...

2. Size - bigger than every other QB at Bama right now
Yes.
quote:

3. Smarts - Already graduated in a semester over 2 years. I can also guarantee you that he already has a playbook working on learning it.
Yes, maybe.
quote:

4. Experience - He and Sims are the only QBs on Bama's roster who have actually gotten in and played in a D1 game, makes a difference.
Little experience, and looked bad during it...against bad competition.

TT...what is your quarrel with Coker? You are literally going after any angle you can. We get that you think he's going to be awful. BUT AGAIN...WHY ELSE DO WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO? He will win the job easily and Alabama will again be contenders in the west.

Ok let's compare the situation

Is Jeremy Johnson better than Cooper Bateman, Sims, the fricking Ginger McLeod, and Alec Morris who as another Bama poster put it yesterday...we're ALL totally different degrees of terrible

Sims threw a sidearm attempting to miss Pettway and he caught it and turned it into a pick 6

Cooper Bateman has a great deep ball but stared down guys and doesn't properly go through reads, tries to force it down field

McGinger tossed every pass longer than 15 yds like a wounded duck and 1 was intercepted and the other dropped...by a defender

Poor Cornwell got 1 pass attempt and tried to pump and the ball slipped out and he's lucky as hell it wasn't another defensive TD

Staff has so much trust in Alec Morris all he does when he is at QB is hand the damn thing off, throw a 2 yd screen and he was the only player that punted yesterday...that's right he punted all day and touched the ball more punting than passing

I'd give my mother freaking left testicle to have Jeremy Johnson on Bama's roster right now...and Nick Marshall beat him out

Coker will be the starter, if it isn't Coker we will see nothing but swings screens and boots

I just don't understand the hype, that's all... Nothing from his time in high-school or during his time at Florida State lead me to believe he is some kind of Heisman contender (not saying any Alabama said this) or even some kind of huge upgrade over what Alabama already has.

We get that you think he's going to be awful.
Not at all. He's just unproven...very unproven.

I don't think he's going to be the best QB we've ever seen or anything. HOWEVER he's light years better than what we currently have. Like I've said before WE are excited about the prospect of him being as advertised. We can be excited right?

No hype, just better than what is on the roster

quote:

Nothing from his time in high-school or during his time at Florida State lead me to believe he is some kind of Heisman contender

We have been over this...He ran a Wing T offense at St Paul's, was in with scrubs whenever he got in at FSU and I haven't ever said he will be a Heisman Contender, Paul Finebaum (top yesterday on Bama's Aday game broadcast) and damn Maisel have but I certainly don't think that.

Agreed on this but so was Marshall was he not?

Well Bucc if you don't think he'll win the Heisman then you're not a Bama fan. THE DOOR IS THAT WAY --->

He ran a Wing T offense at St Paul's
If he was as good as people expect, though, he would have gotten better offers than he did... In today's college football world, if you're good, someone will find you. And by someone, I mean a lot of teams will be after you. It's not an exact science, of course...

was in with scrubs whenever he got in at FSU
Even then, inaccurate and telegraphed his throws...

Those are the people I was referring to. ESPN is hyping him so much.

Not as unproven. He had a ton of offers out of high school as a quarterback and dominated in JuCo...
