Odd or not, I was pointing out your facts were wrong. Have you ever been to Rupp? It is pretty obvious they do not have suites.

They need them desperately, so they can move the old blue hairs out of the good seats.

The bigger point is the schools spending big dough on coaches sure seem to be getting to Final Fours and winning National Championships.

Coaches who win in the Final Four get paid. Not the other way around.

Look at all those top paid coaches and see what their salary was before their championships. The schools didn't spend and then get a championship. They hired a great coach and then rewarded him when he won a championship.

He ended our series in 2003. You can do a quick google search for Pastner doing the same thing as Cal.

And his 2002 team had a total of 3 players from Memphis on it.

I believe you that he ended, but your reasoning doesn't fit.

Pastner ended the Tennessee series and it had nothing do with kids from Memphis going to Tennessee.

That is true in both sports, the exception being aTm who gave Sumlin a huge pay day in hopes he will someday win his first conference championship, preferably in aggyland.

Tennessee is THE PREMIER women's basketball school.

FIFY.

OTOH, we're also a foosball and men's basketball school. A premier rowing school and look to be establishing a damn good baseball program under Serrano. Track/Cross Country are pretty solid though not yet spectacular. It's nice to be good at more than once sport.

Now we need to fix our men's track program and swim teams...

The reasoning is spot on. Cal did not want Arkansas in Memphis, period.

Pastner, did not want Arkansas in Memphis, period.

They're both chicken shits and Cal at Memphis is the only reason I can't stand the man.

If you study up on Arkansas basketball, we had a Memphis pipeline.

Oklahoma State may not be a blue blood, but they are the next step down. They have been in the NCAA since the beginning and were still in Final Fours in the last decade or so. Having 2 NCAA titles puts them is a pretty small group and from Iba to Sutton they have had an NCAA Final Four history only surpassed by a handful of teams.

Utah was really just 1 coach and he has since passed away.

If Kentucky is #1 and Arkansas is #2 in the SEC,
Then Kansas is #1 and Oklahoma State is #2 in the Big 8 / Big 12

It had more to do than with recruiting.

Exposure being one. Memphis allowing other close big programs into their town to beat them didn't do much as to making it a city about the school, which it has become.

It is very, very difficult to pull kids out of Memphis for Tennessee which is why I don't get why he won't play us. The inferiority complex that Memphis fans have is engrained on these kids from when they're very small. We likely won't be a factor for another elite Memphis HS kid until 2017 with Isaiah Stokes.

Obviously that will all depend on who we hire and what kind of success we have, but even a double legacy like him could end up elsewhere being from that city.

Holy frick dude, to go back that far to reach an OSU title and mentioning Iba, you are right there when Utah won the tournament, which was a hell of a long time before Majerus took over their program.

*Tidbit about that is Arkansas was in the tourney that year, but had a automotive accident injuring players before then and had to with draw, Utah was put in to replace them and won the whole thing.

Which didn't matter because Calipari rarely recruited the area. I don't know how you aren't getting this.

That city has been obsessed with Memphis basketball for decades. Arkansas possibly winning a couple games there wasn't going to change that.

Hell when Calipari left they were back to being a national brand. Pastner is still making a living off of Derrick Rose playing for Memphis.

Okay, and how are you not getting that he did not want Arkansas in Memphis?

I understand you're a UK basketball supporter....you've had three posters explain the Cal has ended things because he did not want Arkansas visible in Memphis.

I've also pointed out to use google and you will see that Pastner has continued what Cal started.

So you need to ask Cal why he was so scared to play Arkansas.

See this matters because Pastner actually recruits Memphis. Cal didn't.
