this thread is directed to arky fans talking shite to UT fans about their historic basketball program, to be completely honest. It's pathetic.

Um, even after the 1950's Arky is a better BBall program than Tenn.

you're missing the point

in the thread there were points being made dating waaaay back

I used the 1950s as an overall example because the history aspect of rivalries, wins, etc are all overused on this board

the arky/Tenner thread just was an "aha moment"

eta notice that i said

Agreed. You were basically Ole Miss.

Oh? Ole Miss was this too before 2000?:
#12 nationally all-time in # of NCAA victories, and #10 in bowl appearances, numerous Top 10 rankings, All-SEC and All-Americans, a Heisman winner, several SEC titles, and 5 National championships 1908,1935,1936,1962, 1958-(consensus.)

frick off. If I want to talk shite about Vandy's advantage over Auburn in the all-time series, I will and only a complete monster would try to deny me the pleasure.

Why you mad bro?

Why? Very simple. LSU, from 1893-1999 (BEFORE Saban's happy arse came down from Lansing), had compiled the 12th most number of victories nationally in NCAA football history, and 10th most bowl appearances.

Sorry...you can only claim one on this thread. Pre-1950's ban...remember? So, I guess, for the purposes of this thread (and response to Telefawx), you will be stuck comparing LSU and Ole Miss from 1960-2000.

I would argue that in college basketball these things matter more than in college football. One-and-dones only view certain programs as "valid" choices, and usually you need a national title or two to be on the list.

With college football I agree with you, even though that cuts off our national titles the fact is the world is different and things change often.

Heck, back in the 90's any player would want to go to a Miami or a Nebraska. But nowadays I would be pretty upset if A&M didn't end up on the recruiting rankings higher than those programs.

So I agree depending on sport.

I disagree, slightly. For instance, LSU has a top 5 recruit coming in, and I can assure you it has nothing to do with our basketball history. Kids want to go to UK because of Cal, and Louisville because of Petrino. And so on.

No top prospect in the country is going to UK if Cal were to leave tomorrow. It has everything to do with coaching, and some to do with history.

IMO
