never would thought I'd find a liberal Auburn fan. I'd be carrying everyday if I could but it's next to impossible in California. On top of that I live on base so it's a federal crime for me to protect myself.
But I WILL be getting my CCW when I get back to AL and I WILL be carrying 99% of the time.

Pretty much all that. It's unfortunate but if the police/university couldn't gather enough information in time to determine whether or not the threat was legit they had to do something. They would have prob shut the place down if classes had gone on as scheduled and people had gotten killed.
That said, yes they can't let this be the norm and have to figure out a way to deal with these potential situations in the future.

Moving forward the police and administration will have to figure out a way to prevent sick jokes and idle threats because they can't cancel classes everytime something like this happens.
They can't prevent it. That's something luckily a terrorist or prankster hasn't figured out yet.
You can't prevent a guy going into the bathroom at a random minute during the day and scribbling a small note on the wall.
Unless we filmed everybody taking a piss and shite in the bathrooms.

My point is what do you do from now on when some kid that wants to ruin finals week goes into the bathroom and scribbles some stupid threat on a wall? Once you set a precedent it is difficult to reverse it. The world is a crazy and unsafe place and all you can do is try to mitigate those risks. You can't run and hide in your home at the slightest sign of potential danger... you will spend a lot of time locked in your home.
Rant over, glad nothing came of this threat and all my fellow Aubies are safe.

Find them and kick them out of school.

AU set no precedent today.

Taking precautionary measures is nothing like running and hiding.
Damn! What are they teaching in class at AU these days that is so fricking important?

It's not about the content. It's all about the babes. It's always all about the babes.

I am as Libertarian as they come, and with that said I do not want unrestricted concealed carry on campus - and by that I mean anyone with a permit. Most people are not proficient with their handgun, and will make a shooting more dangerous by firing into a confined space with groupings of people.
With that said, special permits should be considered for on campus carry. Stringent proficiency testing should be required. From 10-20 yards, I want the concealed carry individual to be able to place a head shot with a single round. The last thing needed is a bunch of cum filled renegades side-arming rounds "at" the threat. I could probably qualify for any consistency testing with a handgun, but from what I see at the range every week, most people would not.
ETA: Instead of down voting, respond and have a discussion??

How you going to do that? Put cameras in the bathrooms to see if anyone writes on the walls?

Yes they did. That precedent is that to get out of school all you have to do is scribble some threat in the stall, which you have a 0% chance of getting caught for.

There have already been many days this semester missed due to weather if I do recall. Taking another one on because of this is weak in my opinion.

I know a little bit of what's going on with this, but I'm scared to share it right now after seeing what happened to that judge that posted here. I'll probably here some more stuff later after work.

Is it standard procedure for the guy that found the message to have to hire an attorney? Where's WDE24?
Posted on 4/16/14 at 5:31 pm to TTsTowel
Why would the guy hire an attorney?
Posted on 4/16/14 at 5:33 pm to HailToTheChiz
They began questioning him on the matter.
Posted on 4/16/14 at 5:35 pm to TTsTowel
They as the police? I would have thought the guy would cooperate. Strange to hire an attorney unless he is worried about getting pinned for this Haha
Posted on 4/16/14 at 5:49 pm to TTsTowel
Unless his family's rich and already has an attorney, I don't know why he would get one if he didn't do anything.

Of course, if you have the resources to. Any and everyone will be vetted. This will more than likely end up being Federal terrorist charges, so I'd cover my arse for sure. In the days of the Patriot Act, you can't be too careful as a citizen. Anything that can trump the Constitution should be approached with the utmost publicity and public knowledge.

FWIW, he's a pre-med student. He wouldn't do anything like this at this crucial point in his life. He's a good guy.

Maybe the police will make an example out of this guy and teach people a lesson about making a big deal out of bathroom graffiti.
