Florida's been on the money with their offensive talent evaluation the past few years.

(I do think Taylor is good, but not as good as Henry)

Taylor's a strange back- he's legitimately NFL good in terms of vision, patience etc but lacks the top end speed-- of FLorida's RBs he reminds me more of Emmitt (only saw in the NFL but same sort of not super fast, or super strong, or super agile but just could enough at each that his unbelievable vision carried him through) than his father (Fred had legit 4.3 speed).

In terms of sheer physical skill- Adam Lane is Florida's back to watch-- seriously look up his HS video pre-leg injury (he's back to 100%)-- he's a guy like Jeff Demps was in that he has an non-football physical trait that makes him stand out, in Lane's case its that despite being 5'7" and 220 pounds (might be heavier now) he was the state powerlifting champ, dude is built like MJD-- which is really rare as most small backs are burners not bruisers.

Gus didn't have tendencies last season? I thought it was a point of pride that AU only ran 4 plays..

That's not the same as having tendencies. If you can be successful running the same 4 plays, why run 30? That's just being smart and efficient. When they say he doesn't have tendencies, they're referring to calling plays when it matters, not when you can just run the ball over and over again at will. In close games, or when the game is on the line, he keeps defenses guessing.

Malzahn is as good as it gets at playing to the strengths of who he's got on the team, especially at QB. People forget that he has never, NEVER, had a starting QB for two years in a row since he's been a college coach. He has that this year. And the second year under a coach/system is almost always when you see the biggest improvement, and that's the case on both sides of the ball this year.

I think our QB play will be better. I think our OL will be better overall. I think our WR play will be better, especially with the addition of Dhaquille Williams. And I think our RB play will be as good as it was last year, even with Mason gone. I think CAP, Barber, Grant and Roc Thomas will probably be more productive running the ball this year overall than the RB's were last year.

To sum it up, I think our offense is going to be absolutely deadly.

One of them may even have enough to take down a Bama or LSU this year.

I understand why you include Bama here, but I'd be shocked if we lost to LSU...so why include them?

The ones I questioned would have been Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State and Missouri. Don't get me wrong...good teams and good offenses, but I am not sure they return enough to be in the top 3 or 4. I COULD be wrong, but I was wondering what everyone else really thought.

Well, look at those teams and see what they lost. Pretty sure Miss State returns Prescott, Josh Robinson (plenty of RB depth), and ALL their receivers. Ole Miss didn't lose anything skill-wise either other than Moncrief. So, how many returning players do you require to be "sure they return enough"?

Yeah, he can throw it down-field, but it isn't his bread and butter. I'm just saying not to expect the down-field passing you saw under Greene, Stafford, and Murray. It'll be more like the offense under Shockley with tons of quick outs and slants and then a couple of deep shots once you've drawn the secondary in and can get guys loose deep.

That's all I expect and really all I want. Make sure he's high % and low on turnovers and it's gravy

As I said, I think they will be good, but they were all around 9th or so last year. That's a LOT of jumping, considering what Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Texas A&M, etc return in relation to where they finished last season. Do the ones I mention return a lot of players? yes. But last years upper tier teams ALWAYS finish near the top and most bring back similar numbers of players.

Personally, I think Hutson Mason is gonna be a hell of a quarterback. UGA should be just fine.

Mason will be fine. Especially with that stable of backs.

Shaw is going to be missed. Thompson is a complete scrub.

East offense ranking

Mizzou
UGA
USC

The rest will suck, no point in putting them in order.

Well we "took down" LSU last year with a team that was pretty inferior to this years.

Mizzou will have the 2nd best probably. You all are forgetting how great Maty Mauk played as a true freshman last year. He got 4 starts in too, which means he got some good experience while most of everyone else's QBs are new.

Pretty sure that's good for 4th in the East in terms of games started by QBs. Georgia's Mason has at least 2 starts.
I think he played well as a freshman but of course he was throwing to 3 future NFL players, one of which was the #1 overall recruit in the country. He won't have that luxury next year.

I think Taylor will have a very nice year for UF.

Thompson sucks. You are going to have to come terms with that at some point. Weak Arm. No mobility. He's not good, sorry

and won 75% of the games when there was a tremendous amount of pressure on him. Mizzou hasnt been that good in a while, especially now that were in the SEC, we were a big deal. That being said, the bandwagon put a lot of pressure on him after we came out of Athens 6-0.

ETA: Mauk shouldve been 4-0.
