but I honestly think Gus is basically a one-trick pony.
Well since he has been successful running different styles and for several years it proves he isn't a one-trick pony. Plus since he has been running his offense in college for several years and coaches still haven't shut him down then it either means the other coaches are really stupid or Gus is at least as good of an offensive coach as they are defensive coaches.

If Gus's offense was all about understanding it and then easily stopped then they would have completely figured him out by now and rival fans wouldn't still be saying "When they figure him out" year after year. If that's all there was to stopping offenses no one would ever score and no plays or formations that have been around for years would work.

Gus didn't impress me with his coaching and I felt he was lucky to finish the season the way he did.
Claiming taking a 3-9 team to 12-2 and to the NCG wasn't impressive just proves your entire post was nothing more than butthurt.

What's most interesting? The only team among the top six in scoring offense not to lose their 2013 starting QB is Auburn. That sounds like a leg up on the competition for them.

And considering the QB is such an integral part of that offense, what you say makes perfect sense. Everybody was raving about Tre Mason last season (And he was definitely good) but I always thought Marshall is what made the offense go. He was the bigger key. Auburn will be fine this year offensively. I think A&M will still be up there in the top 4-5 but they will have a dropoff...slightly.

I always laugh at the "one trick pony" comments on Gus. Its more an insult to the defenses that couldnt stop it more than anything else.

If we (Arkansas) can throw and catch the ball with at least average SEC capability, we will have a pretty tough offense.

Do you believe you can do this? How about enough to place top 3 or 4 in the SEC? Would love to hear some honest opinions instead of all the trolling and homerism that we typically see on here!

Florida's been on the money with their offensive talent evaluation the past few years.

Gus' offenses have never finished lower than 4th in any season in its perpsective conference. That will not change this season.

So he gets an NFL job with the most famous team in the NFL in 2017 by getting his offense figured out way back in 2014 and having us finish in the bottom half of the SEC in offense?

USCe, MSU, UGA, Auburn have the QB, RBs, WRs and system, to have an explosive offense.

TAMU, Mizzu, Ole Miss have the system to have an explosive offense. All QBs will be 3000+ yard passers.

Those are your early top seven with no particular order. Teams like UT and UF are sleeper top 7 of SEC.

All of the rest will really on run game early to establish a QB.

Oh...I FULLY understand Auburn's confidence level. And agree they will be at or near the top. The ones I questioned would have been Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State and Missouri.

Don't get me wrong...good teams and good offenses, but I am not sure they return enough to be in the top 3 or 4. I COULD be wrong, but I was wondering what everyone else really thought.

Idk if I am more surprised at that absurd claim he made or the fact that alarm bells haven't been going off in Bama fans heads and a bunch of "WTF" posts haven't rained down.

He doesn't have the arm for it. He is really good at short/mid passes though. You'll see UGA running more of a 49ers West Coast style O with the uptempo dinking and dunking and Todd Gurleying.

He has enough of an arm for it to be a viable threat. Not everyone needs a howitzer. A little refinement and it can at least be a viable enough of an option that teams have to respect it.

While I agree there is not a huge gap between them in talent, Kelvin is very good, let's not pretend that the reason they took KT was anything other than because his dad is Fred Taylor. UF would have taken both in a heartbeat if they could have, but there was no chance they would fail to take Kelvin, even if they thought Henry was better.

Yeah, he can throw it down-field, but it isn't his bread and butter. I'm just saying not to expect the down-field passing you saw under Greene, Stafford, and Murray. It'll be more like the offense under Shockley with tons of quick outs and slants and then a couple of deep shots once you've drawn the secondary in and can get guys loose deep.
