Last year we would have been screwed if DT had gotten injured while playing for an already injured Shaw. This year the two redshirt guys have another year under their belts and will compete for backup duty so I'm not too worried. Again, the main reason Thompson has been a backup guy so far is because of who was in front of him.

I will be curious to see how he did. I didn't watch many games with him. All I remember is he didn't strike fear in me when Mizzou played y'all. Shah, on the other hand, could do no wrong.

I think it's because the players on defense are all like "is that a white dude playing running back?" and he runs them over in their moment of pause

No doubt. After it happens, you can feel the shame emanating through the stadium. It's even noticeable through the TV screen.

In all seriousness though, Douglas is friggin jacked. I certainly wouldn't want to stand in his way.

Yep, after that play me and my friends got up and left. I was ready to leave in the first place but the white dude running over our D sealed it for me

Then I presumed to get barked at and called a POS until we got back to the hotel

Don't think either team will be in the top 3 in the conference when it comes to offense though.

As Alabama has been proving since 2008, you don't need a high powered offense to consistently win 11 to 12 games a year. Though Bama did have the #2 offense in the SEC behind Arkansas in 2011.

I'm as down on Boom as anyone, but there's a puncher's chance Florida shocks the world; explodes on offense and wins the SEC.

Is good, but really not much better (if any) than Taylor-- there's a reason Florida chose Kelvin of the two.

It's just like Oregon in 2010, ya'll have reached your ceiling. In three years Malzahn will be coaching the Cowboys.

Florida will make an offer to let him upgrade if Boom fails this year.

I don't see why you think that. FSU had an extended period of time and 13 games worth of footage, and Auburn still scored 31 points and had 449 yards on a very, very talented defense. I guess I just don't think a year, 2 years, etc. worth of film study will make much of a difference, as long as, Gus has the players(particularly a mobile QB) for his system.

Honestly, I expect Auburn to be down right filthy next year. They return 4/5 of their OL, Nick Marshall will be back, Samie Coates is back,as well as, 2 other starting receivers. Oh, they have an all-conference TE returning.

Also, I don't think they'll lose much with their running backs either. They have a 5-star running back coming in, and they have 2 other seniors(both 4 star recruits) that will be competing for the job. . .it's disgusting how good they're probably going to be. If their defense gets better,I think they will wreck the west next year.

Mainly because this is a matter of opinion until the games actually take place. Mine differs -- I think Auburn overachieved this last season and won't be replicating their success this coming one. I know it'll upset Auburn fans to hear this opinion -- and I can't in any fairness blame them -- but I honestly think Gus is basically a one-trick pony. It has less to do with his the HUNH (I actually think Freeze is a helluva coach) than with the fact that Gus didn't impress me with his coaching and I felt he was lucky to finish the season the way he did. I actually still consider LSU and Bama better teams last season. Obviously he can prove me wrong in the future, and I'll willingly admit I was mistaken if such proves to be the case. But if my premise is correct, then eventually other, better programs will adjust and force Gus to either get better and more diversified in his coaching...or fail. YMMV, but that should be understood with pretty much 98% of the posts on this board.

I have to say the same about Mauk vs. us.

All three of our fullbacks are black. No wonder we went 0-8 last year.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Mauk yet. My gut tells me he'll provide some highlight reel plays, both positive and negative. He also has a habit of running 15 yards backwards when pressured. In high school, I think he was able to out run nearly everyone and was able to elude the pressure. Game is just a little bit faster in the SEC and he gets sacked when he does that now. Hopefully 2 years of seeing that will fix it.
