He was not a top assistant. He was on Billy's bench as a favor to get him out of Louisville until the Karen Sypher mess calmed down. Also, what talent did he pull into Minney in his short stint compared to Tubby.
Having the old man coaching from the stands during the NIT should tell you about his coaching ability.

You keep shoring up my initial point about an assistant not mattering in terms of being much of an injection of hate/energy into the rivalry but you do it in a way that sounds like you're disagreeing and that I said things I never said.
