you sound like me. I don't care how much more sense it would make for me to live on that side or how nice the suburbs are, the stubborn side of me that hates all thing ks would never let me live there. I'd drive an extra 30 minutes just to stay in Missouri. No way in hell I'm giving tax revenue and spending my money in kansas

That being said, assuming the OP doesn't have an irrational hatred for kansas as do I, I would suggest he live in Olathe.

Update: made my first appearance to the KC area the last few days. Still waiting on offer.

A few observations: KCMO seemed pretty cool, got to check out downtown too and WW1 Musuem area to see the skyline. MCI Terminal B is interesting and super small . Olathe seemed like a nice place, didn't see much on the MO side since the job was in KS.

Did stop in STL on the way back and that airport is pretty darn nice. Not to advocate more Kansas stuff on the missouri board, but Oklahoma Joe's was really good BBQ in Olathe and KCK.

Yeah the airport is small but that's a good thing. Easy to get in, easy to get out. Oklahoma Joe's is one of the best bbq spots. Bryant's is my favorite, Gates, Smokehouse, and HawgJaw Fritz are all great too.

I live north near Parkville and can tell you the last thing you want to do is drive on 35 during rush hour. So your best bet would to stay south. There are some very nice neighborhoods south of 435 in KCMO. But the schools aren't the best. If you want schools and affordability you're gonna have to go to the suburbs. Lee's Summit is probably the nicest depending on your price range. Good luck on the job and welcome to KC.

Not much of a waiting area, but good point. Kind of meh, although I heard the other terminals are nice.

Ribs/Brisket for dinner in Olathe
ZMan Sandwich at the gas station spot

Thanks. Sounds good

After dinner, I drove 35N to DT KCMO, but only one issue of traffic at 6PM. Could've been worse

Hope I get it , but I'm not worried about schools too much (no kids). I looked at places in Olathe, Lenexa because that's closer to where the job site is.

Yeah, I hope you get the job. You can't really go wrong in Lenexa or Olathe, it's a pretty nice, safe area. And again, your best bet on the Mo side is Lees Summit since it's in the south side too.

If I were you though honestly, I would live in Olathe or Lenexa since it would be close by.
