Don't say this to Bama or LSU fans... (Even though I agree with you)

Not trying to put you down, but that opinion makes zero sense. If UF win 7-8 gms and doesn't have a top 30 offense, WM is done. Foley cares about the perception of the program, specifically offensive improvement. If UF wins 7-8 but has a solid O similar to '07 UF, he may get another yr. 7-8 wins and UF looks like last yr, no way he survives.

Can you link the article where Foley said this. I would really like to read it.

He doesn't need to, it's common sense. But now, since 'champ's father just passed, I'm not sure how much of an impact that's going to make on the season.

I'd be happy with a top 60 offense after the past few years of a shitshow.

I'm not digging up the article, but foley had a PC last yr where he said the O performance has been unacceptable at UF recently. That's pretty telling IMO.

If UF has a top 60 offense, they will win a lot of games.

Bama and LSU will slide down some more this year and AU will win the west. Bama lost S Dix, LB Moseley, DE Pagan, S Sunseri, DE Stinson to name some....along with qb. LSU with new QB will struggle and they lost DL Johnson, Ferguson, LBs Barrow & Jones and S Loston. Im not sure if Rasco declared early...but if he did...there went LSUs DL. Mizzou lost plenty of defensive stalwarts too and will slide some....ditto A&M. AU will be the team in the west. Saban will feel the heat if AU wins the west two yrs in a row....Bama fans are plain nuts.

I do not think anybody is doubting the D side of the line as long as everybody stays healthy. The debate has been and continues to be if the offense can look less offensive. Foley has shown some "wait and see" so far but seems if the offense can not at least look exciting he is gone. Defense may win championships but the offense sells the tickets.

Last year they just were not fun to watch and ticket sales may be the real canary in the coal mine when it comes to his job.

Last season we were 107th passing and 87th rushing. Getting up to 60th in each will be a HUGE improvement.

For some reason everyone is skeered of Bama & LSU, Im not. Bamas secondary is gone...add John Fulton to the list of DBs gone....LSU not only lost their top two rbs in Hill and Blue, they lost the qb and top three wrs, tiger aint gonna have teeth this year.

In two years both Bama and LSU will be stronger after their 2014 class matures some. Don't even bring up Fournette and Noil yet.

Yeah...I keep mixing them up but really the west except for AU will not be quite as strong as recent years. Its time for an east team to take the crown away.

7-8 wins means that we pulled a massive upset against someone -- most likely South Carolina and/or Georgia. I think he'll stay another year if he gets 8 wins and does something in the postseason. 8 is the minimum though, anything after that and he's for damn sure gone.

He could even be gone with 8 wins and what you described: A dead offense.

I'd actually vote to keep him on (even though I dislike him) if he went 6 - 6 but the losses were at least respectable. Our team looked good, we looked competent and the offense worked but the competition was too much.

I think you and I see eye to eye somewhat on this. Offense needs to look competent and UF needs to score points, no matter the opponent.

For example, I am sick of only scoring in the mid 20's against the terrible OOC teams we play besides FSU. It's time to start putting up high 40's, low 50's on those teams. Beat them as bad as the talent differential is.

Move the ball and look respectable on offense against teams with good Defenses. Make the games exciting and keep them close.

If he does the above and only wins 6-8, no doubt he is around for another year. That would likely mean the schedule was loaded. I think UF wins 8-9 next year, but WM's future is going to heavily depend on the offensive output.

Beating UGA or South Carolina next year shouldn't be considered an "upset".

UF still has a shitload of talent.

I'll call it right now: UF wins the SEC East.

It's possible -- but until the first game is played we have no idea and after having lost to an FCS, going 1 - 4 against Rivals (Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, FSU) I don't know if we'll be considered a favorite in any of those games.

Doesn't mean we can't shock the world, but I'm gonna go ahead and take of the rose-tinted glasses. Love my team, but won't lose objective insight.

There's really no reason for this to happen, honestly. I mean, I understand holding back and not beating the pants off of FCS and lower-echelon teams, but we weren't being respectful: We couldn't score.

This is the most important aspect: I hate losing, but as long as we look like a functioning team then I think I can be forgiving.

He deserves another year if he can keep it respectable, but I think even if he does he will be fired unless he puts wins up and does it with the offense. IF he gets to 8 while beating LSU or Alabama, the perception will help him immensely even if he loses the East. There are a lot of factors going on, and I hope that he does well with the tools he has.
