She wasn't hired as Director of Recruiting, she was hired as Student-Athlete Development Coordinator or something like that. I think it's a different job.

Either that, or they just changed the name.

Assistant Recruiting Director/Director of Personnel named. Daniel Bush

Per ArkansasRazorbacks.com - Daniel Bush, who has spent the last three years in player personnel at Alabama, has been named Arkansas' Assistant Recruiting Coordinator/Director of Personnel, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.

"Throughout this process I have interviewed and discussed roster management with individuals in programs in college and the NFL," Coach Bielema said. "Daniel brings unique experience on both levels that will help build an even stronger recruiting staff here at Arkansas."

Bush comes to Arkansas after serving in football operations as a player personnel specialist for the Crimson Tide since February 2011. In that role, he was responsible for daily recruiting efforts and visits as well as updating the recruiting database and personnel boards while helping Alabama sign the nation's No. 1 recruiting class each season. He also assisted in marketing campaigns and special events for Alabama football.

Bush spent the summer of 2013 as a volunteer research assistant with the San Francisco 49ers. In that role, he conducted in-depth studies on the team's offense and defense in order to analyze results and provide information to the coaching staff.

Bush graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama Honors College with a double major in mathematics and history in 2011 and is completing work for a master's degree in business administration. He also earned a master's of arts degree in mathematics from Alabama in 2011 and was selected as an outstanding undergraduate researcher in 2010 while completing the Computer-Based Honors Program.

Judging by his haircut he is a true Alabamian.

Now that's a big time hire. Anyone with Bama recruiting experience in theast five years has a lot to offer us.

point being, yes I had, but did not know he was a "Jr." etc.

I knew from watching a few Ohio State program info chats with a friend who is a huge O State fan.

I wasn't impressed per say. But go on bustN my chops for what I meant as a humorous thought.

Number one, we're going to sign the SEC players out of Arkansas. We ain't going to let them leave the state. That's number one. After that, and I said this in my interviews to all the coaches, you've got to be effective in Texas. It's a must.

I have a cousins who are head high school coaches, another couple of cousins who are assistant coaches, and I have 15 aunts and uncles in Texas. I've already got a cousin calling me when I was driving in, "Hey, I've got this DB who's an SEC player." So I'm using them. I'm already bringing them up to the coaches. I called my contacts in Florida. I laugh because one of my running backs that I signed at Southeastern was from Florida. His step-dad is the high school coach, and he's calling and congratulating me and saying, "Hey, here are 15 SEC players right here in this area. I can help you."

When this announcement went public until the time I got here, I probably had no less than 200 phone calls and 250-300 texts, and 75 percent of them were high school coaches. It was "Hey, I've got this kid, I know these guys in this area, get me the camp dates, etc." They were from Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma. They all knew me and they know I was a good recruiter and I care about the kids. They knew I helped kids. Because even if I wasn't signing the kid, I was helping him. If I thought a kid was bigger than us, I was calling my friends, like, "Coach Smith, you need to see this kid."

When you do that, help kids, help coaches, the coach sees it and it makes him want to give you his kids. We're going to use all the ties. We're going to start in-state, but we're going to be in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia...we're going to get some work done.

He told 247 that his order of where he wanted us to attack recruiting wise was 1. Arkansas, 2. Texas and 3. Louisiana.

Meh, I get the "radius" part of recruiting, but Florida and Georgia should not be ignored or scaled back for over-rated recruits from Texas.

Even though they are FCS, SLU has had a ton of talent come through there...i'd take Robert Alford and Bryan Bennett on the hogs right now

Shannon is pretty much exclusively recruiting Florida and he has hardly done anything. Looks like we're gonna have to hope he is the coach everyone thinks he is, because we won't be getting any 5 Star LBs from FL anytime soon. Losing Partridge may have killed our Florida recruiting.

It's almost like Shannon doesn't even worry about recruiting until December and January.
