If you're going into medicine you're going to break the bank either way. You might be better off at Mercer with fewer distractions.

Or go to UGA, throw yourself into the fire, develop the discipline earlier, and watch Georgia football.

Distractions won't be a problem for me either place I go, I'm not big on partying, I mean I go out to parties and socialize, but I don't partake in some of the activities at parties. What I'm trying to say is that I'm very disciplined.

That reminds me though, this past week was spring break, and I was down in PCB hanging out with a guy who will be a member of the 2014 team and I don't think he's gonna last long because he likes to snort about anything he can get his hands on. So we have that to look forward to.

Yea, believe me when I say that isn't limited to a few players or this team

GA because one of my daughters attends Mercer. Stay away.

If you go to UGA and choose to be social, you're going to have to get used to that

Oh I already am pretty used to it, me and some friends went to a party where previously said coke head was staying and we weren't there 5 minutes before I got offered meth among some other things, so that was interesting

Anyway I'm going to make my decision in the next couple weeks but I'm leaning UGA at this point.

So what particular scholarship did you receive and would you still qualify for the Hope and possibly some type of grant?
What type of HS diploma did you receive and what was your GPA and ACT/SAT scores?
What did your HS adviser recommend when you both sat down and reviewed the above listed criteria?
What's your backup major or minor if you decide like so many others that pre-medicine is not for you?
Are you planning to bilk the folks into paying for an advanced degree after undergraduate school?
Honestly you could just do your core classes online and transfer in later. You get the same sheepskin as everybody else and stash a 100k for Med school if you make it.
If you just want to join the greek system and party on the parents dime because you know pop will have you a meaningless job some years later then it's a no brainier.
My only bit of advice is that while HS does everything in its power to keep you enrolled. College is the opposite.
After 4 years in the USMC and me paying for it the second time around.... I found a way to get it done and it was most definitely worth it.

DO NOT do this. I made the mistake of playing baseball my freshman year of college at a Georgia JUCO. If you can get all 4 yrs at UGA, do it. You've clearly qualified for HOPE so money won't be an issue as long as you keep high grades, which it sounds like you will.

The scholarship I got from mercer I received by going to a scholarship competition at Mercer. I definitely qualify for hope and hopefully for Zell Miller. My GPA is right at 3.7-3.8, and my 3 part SAT is a 1850, 2 part 1280. Honestly I'm pretty undecided on what I really want to do but I think I want to do something in medicine, it could pharmacy or anesthesiology but I don't know yet.

I wouldn't exactly dissuade an individual from this choice as we don't know his particular strengths and weaknesses.
If he/she is serious about a Medical career then it's been all business since day one of highs school and the student has been making those choices for awhile.
It's an option not a condition<
