interesting note. Was told this is Kyler Murray's cousin. You hear that a lot and often it's like 2nd cousin and I'm unsure on that. But it's certainly noteworthy, especially given relationship with QB is often a factor for WR recruits.

247 names Allen's OT Greg Little the #1 player in the '16 class in their initial rankings. Not terribly surprising.

I think Hudson is a better athlete but Little is as skilled as they come in HS. Hudson has a lot of developing to do but he's cut in the Greg Robinson mold. I think he may even be a guard like Ifedi while he develops.

Little is more a Jake Matthews type. You can't really go wrong with either (and both would be insane) but Little is definitely more ready to play on day one. I've heard a few say he may be the #1 overall player in the '16 class.

tmc, future expert recruiting analyst? Or maybe they are reading here

Bottom line: Hudson is not as polished as a Greg Little but he has tremendous upside due to his mass, athleticism and ability to get to the second level and move in space. He has a lot of similarities to former Auburn OT Greg Robinson at the same stage.

Texas players

1. Greg Little
9. Patrick Hudson
19. Brandon Jones
21. Kendell Jones
23. Deontay Anderson
28. Courtney Lark
32. Eric Monroe
39. Devin Duvernay

They've only officially given the top 10 5* rankings but their policy is the top 30 at the end are 5*s. So right now that would be six from TX.

I thought it was like 38 or something like that. I'm pretty sure that's what it is for the composite

In unsurprising news, we offered Deontay Anderson (Manveil) today. He played Safety as a sophomore but apparently wants a shot at corner this year. Early #23 player in the nation by 247. This may be a quick one too....

2016 is year of the safety apparently in Texas. Who would we rather have? Anderson or Brandon Jones who we offered last year? And that's not counting Eric Monroe, from Houston who on 24/7 is higher on the chart at #19 (Anderson is 23, Jones at 32) I know from what I've read that Jones likes us, but doesn't love us. Deontay Anderson comes out of Manvel which as we know has been cranking out top A&M commits one after another last couple years and this might not be any different. He basically earned a fifth star kicking arse at the Nike SPARQ camps. I don't know anything from this Monroe kid except that his high school has also been exceptional at producing good div. 1 prospects lately.

Would it be called a success to land 1/3 ?? I wonder if we can convince Jaylon Lane to hop aboard it could conceivably help Brandon Jones follow suit. Hmmmm...

Eh, I don't think it's a rather honestly. We aren't offering an in-state guy 2 years before signing day unless we feel he's an out and out stud that you take regardless of need. Anderson is. He didn't just kick arse, he won the DB MVP at the NTFC in Houston a few weeks ago (and '15 studs Sheffield, Hill, Lane, and Thompson were all there as well).

It's not official, but looking likely Carthage OC Chris Smith is headed to Texas A&M to become a Quality Control coach under Kevin Sumlin.

Carthage always has talent. Both Ed Pope and Isaiah Golden played there. They've got a couple of good prospects for '16

'16 TE Marquis Guinn, who isn't ranked yet but has visited both us and tu, also hails from Carthage.
